Could College Gameday be back for FSU game?

Sep 1, 2013, 10:17 PM

I know, I know, it's silly to be speculating about this, but just wondering what you guys think.

If we don't totally screw up on our way there, both FSU and Clemson should be undefeated going into the big game. Any chance ESPN would skip out on games like Stanford-UCLA, TCU-OkState or SouthernCal-ND and make the journey back to Clemson to see what would most likely be (if we don't falter) another Top-10 matchup?

If I remember correctly, Florida hosted Gameday twice last year. So it has happened before.

I think its possible but unlikely. If some of the other possibles lose or get upset before that game and its the only top ranked game around, then maybe or they may use that week to highlight some lower level teams as they like to do from time to time which is cool.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Won't happen

Sep 1, 2013, 10:23 PM

I wish it would, but it just won't. Check out the list:
http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/8

No way they pass up Stanford. Things can change I suppose though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UCLA would have to keep winning

Sep 1, 2013, 10:28 PM

They go on the road to Nebraska next week. It'd be hard to pass on a potential top 10 matchup if you can't find another game with both teams ranked.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Likely

Sep 2, 2013, 8:27 AM [ in reply to Won't happen ]

IF, IF both FSU and Clemson are undefeated going into Week 8, then I say its likely. It'll be 2 teams in the top 10? There's not another matchup that good in the week 8 lineup maybe except for No. 24 USC at No. 14 Notre Dame, but that's already taken by NBC...so:

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

did Corso go to the game?

Sep 1, 2013, 10:24 PM

anybody see him there?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yes.

Sep 1, 2013, 10:27 PM

yes, he was right in front of me, pacing the Georgia sideline near the West Endzone.

I screamed many expletives at him. I don't apologize.

Nah and here's why

Sep 1, 2013, 10:26 PM

Do you really think they'd want to showcase an ACC team? Saturday was all about Jawga. Trust me, they weren't there to highlight a top ten matchup. They wanted to emphasize ThUGA and put some early Heisman talk into murray and gurley.

Not much chance they'd highlight a top quality ACC bout with huge implications. However if they do show up, it'll be to plug FSU and whatever player from them which Herby has a crush on.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are wrong...the producer from ESPN was asked

Sep 1, 2013, 10:28 PM

that very question and he said yes for sure...even Brent knows he will be here and back at ESSO club for FSU game...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Nah and here's why

Sep 1, 2013, 10:28 PM [ in reply to Nah and here's why ]

Um pretty sure Gameday was @ FSU last year when we played them.

Also, the coverage was equal or more in our favor. Dabo interviewed live on Gameday, special tv segment to the rock and our entrance, tons of positive press for Clemson all around.

So that blows up your conspiracy theory.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh, an ESPN apologists!

Sep 1, 2013, 10:36 PM

This ya don't see everyday. I don't know what to make of this. Troll? Coot? Drunk?

I'm just not used to seeing this. Perhaps you just wanted to disagree with someone .

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh, an ESPN apologists!

Sep 1, 2013, 10:58 PM

No, I just get sick of people looking for problems that aren't there.

Overall, I thought the coverage and announcing of the game yesterday was very fair.

ESPN still continues to exude severe SEC Bias in the calling of many games though. See Miss State/Okla State from yesterday. They probably tell everyone to do it, but Herbie & Brent are too high class for that crap.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought the coverage was very favorable

Sep 1, 2013, 11:11 PM [ in reply to Oh, an ESPN apologists! ]

Herbstreet obviously really likes us, and I don't give a #### what Corso thinks.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm no apologist but I agree with him

Sep 2, 2013, 12:24 AM [ in reply to Oh, an ESPN apologists! ]

Don't see how you could think it was slanted....they gave Clemson tons of awesome coverage and exposure...hell they covered the entire entrance for 7 minutes. Don't think ESPN is out to screw Clemson over...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

GO TIGERS

the scott van pelt segment really got under my skin!

Sep 2, 2013, 2:53 AM [ in reply to Nah and here's why ]

even dabo seemed a little p.o.'d at espn ( and the media,in general ) in his post game interview. they need to lose that whole pulling a clemson bs. didn't fsu lose to nc state last year ? just sayin.

Re: Nah and here's why

Sep 2, 2013, 7:36 AM [ in reply to Nah and here's why ]

Did you watch any of the coverage? It was largely in Clemson's favor.

On Gameday it was much more about Clemson than UGA, and then the presentation of the Tigers running the Hill was incredible.

You're looking for a problem that doesn't exist

Doubt they would miss out on the real USC and ND game on the same day. They are in awe of those schools and the SECheat which they own, lock, stock and barrel.

well brent musburger did say last night..

Sep 1, 2013, 10:37 PM

that he planned on being at the esso the week we play fsu to have a drink.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Stanford/UCLA is a huge national audience for them

Sep 1, 2013, 10:37 PM

I'm sure that is a major factor in the decision.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Stanford/UCLA is a huge national audience for them

Sep 2, 2013, 3:21 AM

I don't see how Stanford UCLA is a huge national audience for them. FSU has more appeal than both of those teams.

Sadly, I live in LA and UCLA is wine and cheese and LA is a pathetic college town. Not even close to what it is like back in the South in regards to the love for college football.

Clemson FSU would be much larger for them.

now Gameday may not come to Clemson but they may choose to have Clemson FSU on their ABC primetime slot with Herb and Brent calling the game.

Lots of times Herbie does gameday and then flies off to the site of the primetime game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You might be right

Sep 2, 2013, 8:43 AM

Although the two schools are big and the game itself will draw a large number of eyes, maybe the half day broadcast before wouldn't attract many fans but just the usual people who tune in here and there to hear about upcoming games and opinions and stuff.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not saying coverage was bad

Sep 2, 2013, 12:43 AM

But if game day showed up and the game was shown on espn with their sub-par crew of say Ed Cunningham, I wouldn't even want that.

And I like the crew we had. I just didn't care for the show Gameday. Didn't like the Van Pelt segment and I'm not big on Corso.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If both teams are undefeated, I don't

Sep 2, 2013, 12:45 AM

See why not. Especially with the ratings from yesterday.

Maybe, ESPN is drinking the Orange Kool Aid right now

Lee Fitting @leefitting

No doubt that @clemson is top-5 stop for @CollegeGameDay. Show, crowd, town, scene, people, uniforms, stadium. Has it all. Rivals all SEC

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It would be great but

Sep 2, 2013, 7:39 AM

USC ND has a lot of national following. That is my bet

Brent Musberger actually said he will be at the Esso Club the week of October 19th. Watch the last few minutes of the game and you will hear him say that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If both teams are undefeated coming into that game...

Sep 2, 2013, 8:21 AM

then could be a big night game for us. We will see if gameday agrees!

Their governing body is the stockholders and the almighty dollar. They can do what they wish and there's no law against them doing two Gamedays at the same venue in the same year.

I think it's more than just likely.
