One thing to keep in mind...

is that ANY changes to the CFP format requires the UNANIMOUS APPROVAL of all 10 conference commissioners and the Notre Dame Athletic Director.

While I don't think too many people oppose changing the way teams are seeded after the 12 CFP teams are selected, the proposed format of the Big Ten and the SEC receiving four guaranteed spots while Big 12 and the ACC receive two, is BS.

Unfortunately, you can't leave it up to the CFP committee to decide because they are in the pocket of the Big Ten, the SEC, and ESecPN.

The rest of the conference commissioners need to grow a pair, establish a block, and vote against these ongoing self-serving proposals by the Big Ten and the SEC. If the Big Ten and the SEC don't like it, they can "get stuffed" and "bugger-off".

The required unanimity only covers 2025. Beginning in 2026 the decision power moves near totally to the SEC and BiG. Other conferences are left with crumbs.
Them with the gold, make the rules.

After next year, unanimity is not required. SEC and B1G can rig it however they

I'm okay with seeding along rankings, however the top 4 conference champions, if not in the 1-4 grouping, should at minimum be seeded as a first round host site (i.e. no worse than 8th).

Regarding 4 automatics from the SEC and B1G going forward, 4 teams should also be the maximum number allowed in from any single conference, whether it's 12, 14, or 16 in order to accommodate that.

its going to get nasty..years the acc and big 12 have more than two teams worthy. they will get left out simply because the big and sec get 4 automatic bids.at this rate i wish the acc and the rest would tell them to pound sand and go do their own thing and have their own playoff at the end of the season. and refuse to play any big or sec team in all sports. those two teams only playing each other in football, baseball and basketball would wear thin quick

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly! But other non SEC and BIG only playing each other would also wear thin

We need 16 teams - 3SEC, 3 Big 10, 3 ACC, 3 Big 12, and 3 Group of Five. The last one can go to Notre Dame or the highest ranked team remaining. Everyone plays the first round. No byes.

That model would help the ACC. It’s going to be a 1 bid league most years with the current model.

One thing that was wrong with this year's playoff was not the system, but the rankings. There is no way that Boise should have been ranked over ANY power 4 champion (including our 3 loss Tigers). They had a close loss to oregon. Other than that what Power 4 teams did they play? No one!!! That was total BS and had noting to do with how many bids conference x got. That was also what caused higher ranked teams to have a more difficult path to the championship game.

ESPN has taken a great sport and ruined it. In 15 years, we will look back and wonder why we were so stupid. The skills at the college level will never match the NFL. What has made college football so intriguing and popular are the traditions and rivalries. NIL and the portal took much of that out of the picture, and now the rest are being thrown out in pursuit of Mammon. The SEC and B1G are standing on the corners, ready to hike their skirts to pick up the easy money, but when college football is transformed into NFL-lite, it will all die out. Curses on ESPN, the SEC, and B1G. Please, ACC and B12, stand your ground as long as you can.

& tell SEC/B10 to kick rocks.

Problem with takers (in this case, SEC/B10) is that they don't have limits...they will take as much as they can as long as they can until there's nothing left.

Honestly wish ACC/B12/etc just say "you want to do your own thing, fine. Go break off but not just for football, you break away in everything". Both groups come up with their own postseason for football. Give SEC/B10 the NIT & WNIT for basketball, let them figure out plans for all other sports. Rest of FBS/D1 keep all the NCAA-backed championships.

And let them make class optional, because they will be farm systems for the NFL and not true universities.

If the ACC and B12 give in on this, they have given up any chance to have a voice in the sport we all once loved.
