Bet there a few backups that are wondering why they aren’t given more of a chance to play with the subpar execution of so many veterans.

Agree socman2. But this is a prime example of what has happened with Dabo. He should have never been recruited. We missed on our first few we wanted that cycle. So instead of "ruining our culture " (Dabo's words not mine) we recruited a high school project player when Dabo could have used the portal.

The tone of Mike’s post keep getting more and more testy. “Wouldn’t know a football fact” yet he spews that 2020 was the best passing game we’ve ever had. (In defense of Grisham). It fell short by nearly 1000 yards of our best year. 2020 also featured one of the best years of a receiving back (ETN) at a whopping 15% of production.

So yeah, pot meet kettle.

It's still worth the wait, but way too many distractions, transactions and promises of rewards now. I'm very disappointed in what college football has become. The cash to the players sure has saved me a bunch of money. I'll be watching on TV now, or maybe I won't, depending how all this shakes out. I quit watching the NFL, and I haven't missed it a bit. I'm sure I'll miss a lot of what I love about Clemson Games, but the time has come when the game has left me.

And as long as Dabo is the coach I’ll watch regularly, but when he leaves, it will be easier for me to find something else to do on Saturdays.

He’s been here for a while, and by all indications he has worked hard on the field and has also done what he needed to do in the classroom. He isn’t playing much and doesn’t see a path forward here. He is on an underachieving team and, if he is like a lot of our players lately, isn’t getting great coaching. Why should he be “committed” when he isn’t getting what he came here for?

Too bad for us because we need decent player depth at CB.

Good move for him because (1) he was likely to finish 2025 season as a backup, (2) he was hardly likely to be a starter next year (his SR season) with us, and (3) he can shop for another team that is more likely (than Clemson) where he might start in his RS JR year … or at worst, his RS SR year.

Looking out for himself, as he should, transferring out makes sense.

I will say this and mean every word of it, I will always be on the side of Clemson, and I've loved her most of my entire life, and I will never turn my back on Clemson when times aren't so good, and I have been with her through the worst of times and short periods of the really good times... Yeah - Agree likely related to snaps. Don't really like losing players mid-year, but recognize once they've mentally checked out they could be more of a distraction if they were sticking around.

What are the academic eligibility requirements that come into play? Do guys that are planning to transfer prior to graduation have to remain enrolled in classes? Seems awkward to stick around and probably live with guys that are playing.

Off the team does not necessarily mean booted out of school. His school semester costs (I assume this includes room and board) have already been paid.

Furthermore, it would be a terrible look for Clemson FB to be so vindictive as to try and punish a player further than to boot him off the team. I don’t have an opinion as to what access he will continue to have to S&C facilities, and as to when those facilities would be available to him. My guess is that Dabo would not want to embitter Sheldon Lewis because, as a secondary consideration, S.Lewis probably has friends on the team. (The primary consideration for not trying to ‘further punish’ him is purely moral; Dabo has genuine desire for all young people who pass through his program to do well in life.)

Possibly but I doubt it. I think his representation knows he probably ain’t going to the league. He’s a JR so without this redshirt he’d only have one more pay day. Now he gets two more bites at the apple. I’m assuming he gets to keep his cut of our revenue sharing for this year. Which sucks if true.

He will be the same Cade as he is at Clemson as far as quarterbacking ability goes.

If Ole Miss or some other programs (such as Ohio State, Georgia, or Oregon) have all five of their starting o-line men at NFL Caliber talent, and everyone of their starting receivers are "Sammy Watkins" caliber or better, then Cade will likely have better stats and numbers than he has had during his Clemson career up to this point. However, he would still have no better chance at getting on an NFL roster than he would here.

Being on a stacked team just masks a quarterback's weaknesses.

Kiffin would need some hypnotic powers to get CK2’s mind to become quicker with recognition and also quicker with throwing the ball. I’m not sure whether any hypnosis can get a QB to be accurate when throwing from a position other than a straight up / footwork perfectly underneath throw.

If he had started potential, he would have already shined. I'm not going to talk badly of our coaches... unlike you.

no, a kid who wasn't getting much playing time decided to redshirt and preserve his eligibilty.....nothing more nothing less. Happens all the time in CFB. Stop trying to read too much into every little detail and use some #### common sense.

I do wonder if position coaches had discussed with their players during the bye that they intend to play younger players and the 4 game redshirt option was available for those who Clemson doesn’t see in the future plans. Certainly this month of September has been an eye opener for the staff on how much of the roster must be turned over to acquire better talent.

There was a day that news like this would have bothered me. Now, all I can say is Peace Out! This is unfortunately the new era of college football.

To bail out when times get tough, though, speaks a lot to one’s character. He certainly doesn’t leave behind any legacy or stats that will be missed.

Clemson will be back with or without him.

Go Tigers!

It's like Mike Tomlin said, "We want volunteers not hostages." You're either all in or you're not.
