Opinion on neutral site games

Do you like them? I don't mind them, just wish we'd play somewhere other than the GA Dome for a neutral site game, I know they like doing the whole Chick-fil-A Classic, but it'd be nice to see a change of scenery if we are indeed going to go to a neutral site.

Hopefully we can exorcise some demons this year. I was there in the 2003 Peach Bowl, and it was awesome to beat Tennessee. Haven't had much luck there since.
We've had better luck in Charlotte, though. Wish we could play there more.

it is a big game and you can not get a home and home series. Save them for the Bowl games

We're likely going to be seeing a lot more of these pop up

in the coming years, which I don't particularly see as a bad thing. Quality home/aways will be tougher with leagues going to 9 games, so the neutral site offers great exposure with a decent payout as opposed to simply a lost home game.
The era of the "pre-season bowl" is likely coming. Depending on the destination and the matchups, they could turn out to be pretty interesting.

agreed.also, unlike an end of season bowl game, where you don't know the destination untill a few weeks out, it gives fans the long lead-time to prepare for the travel expenses to go to the game.

I don't really see any benefit in being in a game like this.
It's essentially a marketing partnership between Chick-Fil-A and ESPN. Doesn't really benefit a team like Clemson who, or the last 10 years, has played MUCH BETTER at home than away.
They call it "neutral." I just call it being away from Death Valley.
I would much prefer another home and home.

The problem is that another home and home isn't going to happen. Given the reality of a 9 game ACC schedule and the budgetary requirement to generate home game type revenue 7 times a season, we either play a neutral site game with a big payout or we play Ball State at home.
In a perfect world, Clemson would develop a round robin schedule where we played games in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Jacksonville once every 3 years against a marquee team not on our regular schedule, like:
Charlotte - Tennessee, Ohio State, Notre Dame, or East Carolina Atlanta - Tennessee, UGa, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, or Missouri Jacksonville, Florida, UCF, UGa, Auburn, or South Florida
Lesser teams like Louisville, Cincinnati, or Rutgers might be an option. I just don't know how well those teams would draw.

Used to play Duke in Norfolk, VA in the Oyster Bowl.

I think we won one year 3-2 in 1965. Oddity in that we returned home to beat TCU 3-0 the next week.

its always fun to go to new schools and see their tradition and atmosphere (especially if you go home a winner). But neutral site games are usually good matchups so I'm ok with them.
