Win against Pitt
Jan 26, 2016, 10:44 AM

Okay, let's say we get a win against Pitt. (which is very likely in my opinion), but how does that impact our post season outlook? We have some huge wins, but we also have some TERRIBLE loses. If we beat Pitt, the rest of our schedule looks favorable, so is there a chance for us going to the big dance? Especially with all the carnage that has happened recently with teams across the country?

team, and that includes the Pitt game. So another win puts them at 6-2, with several of those being against tournament teams. If they can get to 11-7 in the ACC, they have a great shot.

Beat Pitt and we are in good shape

assuming we keep beating the teams we should beat. Lunardi and SI already have us in the tournament. We do have some questionable losses to Minnesota and UMass, but not many bubble teams will have the wins we have over Duke, Miami, Louisville and even Syracuse and Florida State (other bubble teams). Add a couple more pelts like Pitt, and we will look very good to the committee come March.

Duke will only have cache value at the end of the season.

At the rate they are going they won't be a "good" win.

Yeah I'm cheering for Duke to beat anybody at this point... that win is starting to look at lot less valuable.

Coach firing team up after football success in Orange Bowl! I think the difference is obvious and has to count for something plus Blossomgame has played like an All-American in last few games, and his success is helpful too!

Beat Pitt and we hold the tiebreaker

...over 3 of the other teams currently tied with us in the conference standings. The other, Notre Dame, we haven't played yet.
To me the stretch that will tell the tale comes after Pitt: 3 road games, all winnable. If we can go 2-1 on the road with a Pitt win the guys are 8-3 with a 3-game homestand against winnable foes.
Not to mention by then our RPI would be back around 60, maing those early losses far less daunting.
At the same time:
L'ville has Virginia and UNC on tap coming up. Miami's schedule is back-heavy. Pitt has UNC, Miami and Virginia NDame has Virginia and UNC before coming to town.
We've had our Murderer's Row. Now it's time to see how everyone else stumbles through. With a 2-1 stretch on the road, we could well be tied with Miami for second ... and we hold the tiebreaker there.
It's all in front of us, and it starts with Pitt.

Good post. 2-1 on the road could be asking a ton, though.
We're currently projected as into the NCAA Tournament, and there's a reason for that. We have to maintain that, and beating other teams that are also projected into the tournament (Pitt) is a great way to do it.

we need to win every game we're favored

with previous "headstone wins", that should be sufficient to get to the dance.
but i gotta admit, i'm holding my breath, waiting for the shoe to drop.

I'm holding my breath here too... right now it seems a little too good to be true.
