Wanted to shout out former Tiger QB turned HC Willie Simmons...his Florida A&M team won the Celebration Bowl to finish the year 12-1 & capture school's 16th claimed HBCU national championship.
The win also came 45 years to date of the Rattlers winning the 1st ever NCAA FCS/1-AA national title.

He started out at PVAMU In 2015 with an 8-2 season, but didn't replicate that success on 2016 or 2017. I didn't search to see if he was pushed out or left on his own to FAMU.
Once at FAMU, he's had four 9+ win seasons. If he's feels called to improving the HBCU programs he'll stick around at FAMU. If not, you'd assume he'll have some opportunities after going 45-13 at his current stop.

He's a Florida native so figure if he ever left for a bigger opportunity

He'd stay in the Sunshine State first. Would also like to think that should be continue having a strong coaching tenure, that he'd be on a short list whenever the day comes Dabo hangs up the whistle here.
I know he's done a good job restoring on-field success at a proud program that had struggled for quite a few years before his arrival.

FAMU was in the playoffs a couple years ago as an at-large. This says the conference champions of Ivy, MEAC, and SWAC don't go to the playoffs. Ivy, cause their ivy. MEAC and SWAC because their champions play each other post-season - guess you can't do that AND participate in the FCS playoffs.

I guess nobody remembers the time Simmons got in a verbal fisticuffs with a campus meter maid because he got towed for not paying his parking fines.
