Swinney To Texas, Morris New HC?

With some pundits saying that Dabo could be a candidate to replace Mack Brown at Texas, I believe Chad Morris would be the best one to replace Dabo. What do you think?

there is a big difference between being a pumper and being realistic. when you refuse to see any thing other than positive things makes you unrealistic. and the bad thing is you get upset when people aren't unrealistic and agree with you. and yes I am the anti- non logical hater. I think it is very stupid to not use logic. this is a discussion board, you get different opinions. but please TRY TO USE SOME LOGIC AND COMMON SCENCE WHEN YOU POST. even light bulb bill uses logic sometimes!

BCS bowls, three straight double-digit win seasons. Mack Brown did not have that kind of resume at UNC when they hired him. Rick Barnes did not have a comparable basketball resume when they hired him. I hope they don't, but I am a little worried about the possibility.

My odds.... 99% that Dabo will be our HC in 2014... 85% that Chad won't be our OC in 2014. 1% that either will be working at UTX in 2014...
Chad won't leave to be an OC (even at UTx)... only HC... which he may get a chance @ Baylor or Vandy when the dominos start to fall.
Venables is most likely the one to end up at UTx. No clue who the HC will be but he could be valuable w/ his Big12 experience and his contract is easier to make a lateral move w/ as opposed to Chad's.

My gut is Chad may jump to prove himself as HC like Gus. Vandy would a good fit, Baylor would be ideal. If he stays, he be breaking in a lot of new players next year, which might make it tough to reproduce the 2013 stats, which could lower his market value. He's a competitor so he's not content being a OC. He wants to be a HC.

I'm not saying he wants to leave Clemson as much as he wants to be a HC. It's natural for any good coach to want complete control. He'd jump at the chance to go to Vandy to prove himself. He'd more than triple his salary and Franklin proved that you can be competitive and the job is a good stepping stone. Gus took a pay cut to go to Ark St, which got him to Auburn. Norm Chow was too picky and when he finally go his chance he was past his prime, so you can't wait too long when you're a hot commodity. Louisville may come open if Strong goes to UTx, which also would be a job Chad would jump at.
If O'Brien leaves PSU, it will have a big domino effect that would create some attractive openings. I hope Chad stays but I'm just being a realist. I don't think Clemson can offer him anything else except the HC job and Dabo is too young to make him the Coach in Waiting.

Never would happen because we'd hire Chad as HC if Dabo left,, which limits Dabo's value if you figure that Chad is integral to his success.

a publication out of Oklahoma City with the names of 25 possible replacements for Mack Brown, and Dabo's name was not on it. My impression is the "pundits" you speak of are your beer drinking buddies, if they exist at all.

Because of what Gus did in 1 year at Auburn, and Clemson's success this year, Chad's stock is at an all time high and he'll come into play when the positions come open. I figure that his 15 yrs as a HS HC in TX is worth something too.

If CM take a job and falls flat on his face we would know but I wouldn't be happy to be right were that to happen.
I can tell you this, Chad doesn't have the facility to do what Gus did. Gus had most of this team in place when he left AU a couple of years ago. They added a pretty good class while he was gone and he added another recruiting class which was in the top of the ranking.
Any program that has such a setup isn't changing coaching staffs.

Gus proved he was more important to the success than Chiz.
Like I said before, a good coach has the confidence to take on any challenge and relishes those challenges. If any of our coaches are content being an assistant coach for their rest of their career, I'm not sure I want them.
