Why not keep it simple….

Sep 21, 2014, 2:37 PM

of course we should not miss 20 yard field goals
of course the players are doing their best to secure the ball
of course we should not have a ridiculously bad snap on the 1 yard line
(but sh*t happens)
A game atmosphere is obviously conducive to one making errors (especially this past one). I wish the coaches would really focus on keeping it as simple as possible when the odds are so overwhelmingly in our favor (4th and 1 under center). Master the basics better than anyone else and keep it simple.

I think what is spellbinding to some Tigers is the lack of taking advantage of the obvious. I think Chad Morris is a great football coach. I do not understand how we do not play under center on a 4th and approx 1 (twice) in one game. Why take the risk to do anything else? 2nd down I believe on the botched snap. The other call is exacerbated by the fact that we had already made the same error (not playing under center) once.

It seems that we do not have a habit of putting our GREAT TALENTED PLAYERS in a position to win. To the lay person it seems that we are not keeping it simple as possible at times and therefor we are not minimizing mistakes (they are going to happen).

South Carolina seems to be in the habit of doing the opposite. They appear to keep it basic and take what the other team is giving them. Instinctually Steve Spurrier seems to keep getting it right (and simple). Where as we seem to have a really smart coaching staff that appears to not have the street smarts/ instincts that they should? Recognizing they are established professionals that have given the Tigers a ton to be proud of.

I am frustrated bc we seem to be missing the obvious. I wish we would keep it simple when there is no need not to…. So frustrating. Personally I think the stuff about the team giving up is crap and us "clemsoning" has a lot more to do with coaches not being instinctual and taking advantage of the obvious - keep doing what is working, keep it simple when the odds are in your favor, and take what the other team gives you (again and again until they do not give it to you). My vent… probably worth absolutely nothing but none the less…….

Go Tigers.
