If Dabo is looking for a new DC

First three calls I'm making are two the following. Jeremiah Johnson Scott Olson, or Nick Bendetto. All three are somewhat under the radar but really good defensive coordinators. I actually like Jeremiah Johnson and Scott Olson the most. Scott Olson has been to DC for several years at North Dakota State and this dude has passion that we haven't seen since Brent left the sidelines. But he's also a former bison linebacker and that is probably his dream job down the road.

All of those are good candidates and would be improvements, but I hope.....

I hope he at least looks at Zac Alley. I would move Goodwin back into the booth or fire him, hire Alley to be DC and LB coach, fire Conn and ask Reed if he wanted to coach the full secondary and/or promote Lorenzo Ward to Safeties depending on what Reed says.

But I am sure Dabo has a great candidate in mind already if he is making a move, and he has probably already been in contact with them.

I think you are right about what Dabo might have done before he decides to make a change. In the past, when he has made a change, it has generally been because he had a plan in mind.

Oh yeah

If Dabo even thought he was making a change, he has already ran every permutation through his mind and already knows what he is going to do and who he is reaching out to get. That is what his green notebook is for (at least I think it is green, I have only heard tales about it). If he is indeed going to hire a new DC, you can bet he has already reached out to them in some capacity. He does not do things without a thorough plan in place, he is a very deep thinker/planner.

I’m sure everyone thought BV would make a lateral to Clemson.

Different situations. BV wasn't DC. Brother Stoops was. He came to Clemson to be the guy. Alley is the guy at OU. He can spend a few years learning from BV and then branch out.

Never know. A job on BVs staff isn’t exactly job security.

I agree. OU staff is on the hot seat in '25. I just think he will stay at OU for a few years before moving on.

Is Zac running the D? Or is it BV's D? Zac is a Clemson alum, and at some point, he is going to want to step out from under BV shadow and prove himself, right? Maybe he is waiting for a head coaching job, but if it were me I might want to come back to Clemson, win some games, establish my own legacy on the Defensive side of the ball (instead of piggybacking on BV's) and try and get a good head coaching job somewhere.....just saying Dabo needs to call and find out for sure.

Yes he needs to call but anyone will tell him to make his name in the SEC rather than the ACC. He can establish himself then when Dabo steps aside come home to take over.

about wanting to keep him etc. He coaches db's and special teams right? Seems we always have talent at db but technique seems a little lacking at times giving all the pi's they seem to commit. I am not saying one way or the other because I honestly don't know.

Jeremiah Johnson was a good movie from the 70s***
