After all the criticism over him wearing his religion on his sleeves, he leads one of the most successful programs in recent history and wins the Championship.

IMHO but possibly will & can reward a Follower like DaBO..but if so then one might say GOD was against Saban, who seems to be a righteous man himself.

Dabo rewarded Dabo with a National Championship, and God is happy for Dabo doing the right things to get there. God has a lot more important things to than reward his flock with Championships, but he is happy to see them earn those things for them selves!!!

If the question was could God have acted to forfill Dabo's faith in action when he believed that consistently doing right things right and striving to be the best would bring about Championships? The answer is yes

I recently visited Cambodia - lovely people, fascinating place and extreme poverty for the vast majority of the population. I can assure you these people are not poor because of their choices. Their poverty is a condition of where they were born and circumstances beyond their control.

Respectfully, this is not the case in most of the world. A mother with nine children living In slum in the Phillpiines who is not allowed to use contraception because her church forbids it and has no education does not have a legitimate path out of poverty. This is not a "choice" for so much of the world. I agree in the US the path out of poverty is much more possible, but definitely not always easy. But the US is just 4% of the world's population, so we must really expand our view here and avoid sweeping statements like saying poverty is a choice for all.

The God of the Christian Bible warns against seeking happiness through worldly gains like money....
So maybe in His eyes a person living in financial poverty with a smile on their face is rich and the CEO bringing in a six figure salary who's always in a bad mood is poor.

Good. So these choices you were speaking of which everyone has to either be impoverished or not really don't matter then because the poor are very happy with their lot in life. Glad to know this.

In the context of the question "Why does God continue to ignore the poor?"....
A. Some financially poor people are there because of the choices they have made and continue to make.
B. Happiness and contentment can be achieved even in the worse situations.
Everything is not black and white. I'm not saying all poor people are happy and all rich people are sad. I'm saying that from God's perspective some rich people may need more help than the single mother struggling to make ends meet.
God offers everlasting happiness which has nothing to do with how much money is in your bank account or how big your house is....

In most cases people that live in the USA are poor because they have no drive and are lazy. I didn't say all but most are poor because of situations they bring on themselves.

Just because you are poor doesn't mean you are poor in Spirit. You are looking at it from an earthly view point. Financially poor can be rich in Spirit and have great relationship with God with riches in Heaven waiting for them. This is a sinful world.

Some of the biggest scumbag coaches win championships all the time, at all levels. Some of the most nasty and despicable people I've ever met are extremely successful and very wealthy. And some of the most humble and faithful Christians I've ever known struggled their whole lives with bad health, financial problems, and personal tragedy. Best bet is to just look for your rewards in heaven...

Yes and no. Dabo's faith led him to make sound decisions based on his belief in God. No, in the sense of God didn't directly control the games result. God is in us all, it's our choice whether to live for Him or against Him.

I never suggested that God follows football.

please don't bring God into sports. It's his/her outlet as much as ours. Why do you think sports were created to begin with??

I agree with you, too include politics. My motive was to create a stimulating dialog and nothing more. I learn from listening to others and can honestly admit to having learned from the intelligent responses in this thread.

Football does indeed involve human lives. For this human life it's a way to take a break from all the other crap, and simply enjoy the game win or lose. It's should be a safe zone to avoid the realities of day to day life, and an opportunity to bond with other human lives without the daily grinds. I played sports all my life, and part of the beauty of it was the break from everything else going on. I'd like continue that break as a fan of sports now. The rest of this #### can be discussed in other forums of this site. I come here for football and nothing else.

Then why open the post? The title was clear as to the subject matter. Don't click the link and move on.
