Why do many on here hate Reggie Herring?

Yes, they were bad times with West as HC, but I thought Reggie had fire in the belly. Just curious.

Ok, but why? My memory is fuzzy from back then, but I thought our offense was much worse than the defense then?
The qb situation was terrible.

Speaking of drinking, I fondly recall knocking back some PBRs at the Esso with Reggie and Les Herrin. Les was cracking me up with his side comments that were not suitable for posting  .

I had a class with some guys on the d line at the time and they couldn't stand the guy. The old saying is that they won't care how much you know until they know how much you care; apparently Reggie don't care. Coach V coaches em hard but he loves em more; as I was told that wasn't the case with Ole rej.

weird to say but man we always blitzed the wrong guy, wrong down , wrong distance.....I loved the aggression but it was not really well thought out

He blitzed like nobodies business and it was awesome when it worked but more often than not it left players wide open for big plays.

He complained about the home crowd support after a game we lost. He just pissed away any support after that comment.

Because he was a bad DC
He blitzed every down
Everyone in the stadium knew we were bringing the heat and we got killed by big play after big play.
We gave up TD’s on third down like nobodies business

He came in, did his best to apply his techniques, and they just didn't work out for us.
I never hated people like Ken Hatfield, Tommy West, etc., as they did the same. Sometimes, what doesn't work in one situation, will in another. And I thank these folks for their efforts on our behalf.
