Why did our best QB in school history go 0fer against SC?
Jun 9, 2014, 6:11 PM

I hate when SC fans act like he folded against good teams using SC as the only example. They never acknowledge his performances against LSU, Ohio St., Georgia, Auburn, etc.
But he sucked against carolina.

Charlie was a great QB. Very poised and had a nice touch on the ball. I don't understand this post really. The man has been a professional QB for several years. Granted he hasn't started much, but he is still a professional. To answer the initial question regarding Boyd.... He went 0-3 because he just played poorly against them. He got behind in some and tried to force things. Others he was just being crushed by Clowney and crew. Also I think the Gameschmucks QB's just played better, their coaches coached better. Its all a mental thing from my point of view.

A good answer. Most simpletons here automatically just assume I'm trolling as a ####. But you got to the point I was trying to make.
They lose 3/4 starters on the DLine which has been their main advantage these past few years. The one returning starter is a guy I've never heard of.
Thompson is going to be eating a lot of dirt this time around, I'm really excited about our front 7.

Only problem w that is their D line won't effect DT eating dirt. The lack of depth and experience will help Cole Stout make plays.
But Lamecocks OLine will be very good this year. So will our D line. It is going to be a battle for sure.
On the contrary out O line may not be amazing an neither is their D.

USuC did not dominate the offensive or defensive line last year. In fact, Spurrier admitted his self that he kept calling qb draws bc we controlled the line of scrimmage. Also, R McDowell averaged better than 8.5 ypc against them. Two years ago is a different story.
Tajh Boyd is not the best qb in Clemson history. For those who say he his, he's not. Was he the qb with the best receivers and offensive coordinator in Clemson history? Probably. All parties during his tenure, 0-4 against USuC.
It's no simple theory as to how we(tajh) were 0-4 with him as qb. But I firmly believe it is coaching.
Steve Spurrier is a better football coach than Dabo and everybody on this board knows it and hates it, and won't admit it. Would Steve Spurrier have beaten USuC last year if he was the coach at Clemson? Absolutely.
Would Connor Shaw have beaten USuC if he was the qb at Clemson last year? The thought has occurred to me.
Clemson had better players, facilities, and coordinators than USuC the past two years. Getting the players ready to play is the HC job, and simply put they were not, and 6 turnovers is exhibit A.
Turn me down fellas. I'm gonna go have dinner with my smokin hot 24 year old gf and worry about my tiger pulse.

Couple quick points..
Dabo is doing considerably better after 5 years than Sack was 5 years into his 3rd head coaching job.
And, THERE IS NO WAY Sack beats Clemson of his team had 6 turnovers. In fact, if we had a few less and certainly of 6-0 in reverse, then we beat the #### out of the coots.
There's a lot more BS in your post too. We can discuss later if needed.

The trenches, especially our OL's inability to run-block has been a huge reason we have struggled. We seem to be fixing that in a big way and focusing on the trenches, both OL and DL, and it will pay us big dividends. That has been the missing piece of the puzzle, IMO.

lmao, you're internet points have no power here. You're welcome to actually join in on some meaningful conversation though.
I think we easily have the upper hand this year, playing at home, and they are very inexperienced along their DLine, something they aren't used to and something that has been very advantageous to them in our games.

Do you get a limited number of TDs if you pay? I feel like if you pay, although you obviously should only get to TD a specific post once, you should be able to TD as many posts as you want.

IMO - it was COACHING and a whole lot of luck for the chickens. The law of averages finally caught up with us, and even though we are the better team, they managed to pull off 5 upsets.
Pretty good - huh?

Some people don't like to hear it but here goes:
Against a team as talented and well-coached as SC it's hard to sling the ball all over the field. While Tajh had some great games against LSU, OSU, etc, he also had games where he wasn't able to take what the defense gave him when 1) his primary read wasn't available, 2) there wasn't a wide open Sammy/Nuk on a 9 route down the sideline or 3) opposing defenders go physical at the LOS with our WR and threw the timing of the play off.
These weren't always problems for Tajh but they were in the Coot game. Combined with some questionable play calling and the Coots just being able to seal the deal late in the 3rd quarter/early in the 4th quarter (past 3 years), things just didn't work out.

I wish he would had been patience, felt where the pressure were, stood tall, and kept his eyes scanning down field for what was available at that times. These plays really hurt his draft stock on the big stage games.

He won some big games but if we had lost the OSU game because of him changing a play when told not to I wonder how people on here would judge him.

He is however the QB who saw the most snaps in school history and had an O-coord that liked airing it out. And oh by the way, he was throwing to the best WR corps in school history.
TB is a great person and a good QB, but not the best in school history.

As long as we still got DabDog we'll still be OK though despite our lack of success for so long against Scar.
