Why Clemson beats Coots

Comes down to one thing. The offensive line and Coots offensive line is atrocious. Probably worse than FSUs. And Clemson defense was able to get through that FSU offensive line. Clemson defense will pin their ears back and blitz sellers all game long. Yes sellers will get his yards with his legs but Clemson Defense will also rack up 4-5 sacks possibly forcing some bad throws. The way the Clemson offense is playing I believe they control the game and win comfortably. 31-21 Clemson would be my score prediction.

Keep Sellers in the pocket and spy him.
Cover Harbor.

Easier said than done but that’s the key.

We don't have the speed at LB to spy him.

We need to get to Sellars quickly. He is most dangerous when he gets his wheels going.

We don't. Clemson can't stop a mobile QB. Castellanos had success with his legs last night and I expect Sellers to have a field day. Id bet the farm that Sellers has over 100 yards on the ground against Clemson.

Take notes from BV defense scheme that throttled LaNorris Sellers

OK’s highly successful defense vs Coots and L.Sellers was counterintuitive.

Instead of trying to keep L.Sellers in the pocket, Oklahoma’s blitzes were straight up the middle. The objective was to force Sellers to immediately choose whether to drift right or to drift left. BV had obviously viewed Sellers as being uncontainable via the typical approach of trying to keep him contained in the pocket.

By so doing, OK squeezed Sellers into having only half of the field in which to do his free-lancing.

L.Sellers is not so blazing fast that raw speed can overcome being boxed into a half field for improvisational maneuver.

L.Sellers didn’t have enough room to maneuver to create his patented ‘magic’ big play scrambles.

I thought it was interesting that Bama didn’t just take OK’s blitz strategy and use it for their own scheme vs S.Carolina. Also interesting that Bama’s defense was not nearly as suffocating as was OK’s defense.

Clemson doesn’t have OK’s overall team speed and tackling proficiency as OK’s defense. Bama, on the other hand, has talent every bit as good as OK (on defense).

Conversely our O-line does not inspire domination either. I watched the Coots a couple times this year, 93 and 6 are going to live in our backfield all day. I am hoping Riley has something to get the ball out quickly because Cade dropping back and drifting is gonna result in a bunch of sacks/lost yards.
