Offensive schemes are similar enough. What gives?

McDowell had 8 ypc and only 11 carries. It's not that we can't. It's that Morris refuses to even though he talks a big run game. This is a chronic problem for us in big games.

Everyone close to the program knows that Gus is an avid runner. He would take chad in short and long distance.

Their offensive line is a lot better than ours

Yes, I know they played well vs SCAR, but other than that they've been pretty mediocre. Our pass blocking has been better and Tajh isn't the best runner, so I think Morris designed a lot of screens and passing plays for Tajh. Tajh throws a great ball when he's on too, so Morris schemed for that. Opening running lanes and sealing blocks has been a problem for this unit. We've got to improve in that area if we hope to have a solid running game in the future. You'll see more running if Kelly wins the starting job and as our recruiting improves.

Morris Is Impatient and He Panics

Although as someone correctly pointed out Auburn's superior offensive line, Morris consistently panics and become impatient against quality teams and eschews the running game although his eyes should tell him otherwise.

Running back talent level is different
Dec 8, 2013, 6:08 AM

Both at QB and RB positions.
Last year he toyed with Sammy in that role, but you saw how that turned out. When we had Ellington, we were close on the RB talent, but Tajh is not a runner like this Auburn QB is.
No disrespect to Hot Rod, but it took him all year to reach the level he played at in the Scar game.
We just dont have the horses in the stable like Auburn or FSU or Scar does. Simple as that.
Then add Chad's inability to call good plays in big games (maybe due to lack of weapons) and you get the difference.
