Who said it? Swinney or Brownell

So for certain posters who applaud Brownell and bash Swinney, I’d like to play a little game of “Who Said It?” Quotes from both coaches are provided below. These quotes come from post game press conferences in which our beloved tigers lost. Now play it honest. No googling.

1. “Two different halves. Certainly the start of the game was our way … We just couldn’t quite get enough stops to win the game. So, again, give them credit. They played terrific.”

2. “They played very well. We picked a tough day to not play our best. Certainly they had a lot to do with that. I didn’t do a very good job with my guys.”

3. “I thought the better team won tonight. They out-played us.”

4. “I’m proud of their fight. I’m proud of the heart that you saw of our group. We put ourselves in a position to win the game.”

5. “Obviously, tough night for the Tigers. … We had chances to win and needed to do a better job late.”

6. “Obviously, a very difficult ending for us. Really proud of my players for just continuing to compete and believe and just keep fighting. We had a chance to win the game there at the end, had a couple things maybe not go our way, but man, we just – these guys just kept fighting. Congratulations to Louisville. It was a hard-fought game by both teams.”

7. “Game didn’t go our way, but I’m proud of our team. It’s my job to help them overcome and my job to help them get better, and we’ll do that.”

8. “Just didn’t play well enough tonight defensively. … I got a great group of kids but we’re not as tough as we need to be. And it shows up especially on the defensive end.”

9. “I think sometimes everybody, when teams start losing games, it’s ‘oh, they’re quitting on their coach’ or ‘they’re giving in’ and all that. Sometimes you’re just not good enough too now. Sometimes teams are just— it’s hard to win, or they’re better than you are, they’re beating you down a little bit.”

Follow up observation… I find it interesting that basketball posters trash the ‘best is standard’ slogan, but can rationalize inexplicable losses.
Maybe if they applied the same mindset they’d have actually won a trophy sometime in the last 15 years.

Those 9 quotes are all very similar, all pretty innocuous, and I don't have a problem with any of them. Honestly, you could find plenty of more controversial statements from both guys.

CDS hasn’t had that many losses to talk about.

Those quotes could be from one season for Brad.

They would be 10 seasons for Dabo.
