Tired of the "he's supposed still be in high school" BS?

Me too. So I went to the Coots official football site roster and Jake Bentley was born November 23, 1997 which means he's currently 18 and in 2 weeks he'll turn 19. I know a lot of the Gamecock fan base were still in High School at age 19 but many Clemson students are Sophomores in college by that age.
So let's let the argument of his being still in high school facade go. If he had stayed in school he'd be an almost twenty year college freshman by this time next year. He was held back to mature as many coaches do with their kids.

Play high school football in South Carolina? I know you can't play at 20, so he has to be on the boarder line.

as a Columbia resident and friend of many Gamecocks, it's kind of nice to at least see them in a good mood these days. They are more upbeat and easier to hang around. Let 'em have their fun until they come to Clemson.

I don't really care if coot fans are in good moods or not. You can count the number of coot fans I have on one hand, and they are NOT your typical braggart obnoxious coot fan, they are decent people, they went to school there and NEVER rubbed in the 5 game streak against us. There will be some excuses why we crushed them, but Clemson WILL crush them.

I don't care if he is 17 or 23... He will feel like a little kid in a few weeks when he gets man handled by a bunch of Men wearing orange. Enough with the Coot topics!

Did y'all know that this ONE thread means that Bentley now lives in our heads and we are scared? Just thought I'd let y'all know this is what the coots think. LOL

I turned 19 in the fall of my sophomore year. Started Clemson at 17. Of course the drinking age was 18 and most bars would let you in with your Clemson ID (no birthday date on ID). Good times!

Also, for those that don't know. That's also a "trick of the trade" for ol' bobby and his players in high school(when he was at byrnes). He actively suggests to parents that they hold their kids back a year if he thinks they'll be good players. This way they'll be more physically mature than their opponents. I've seen this first hand.

It doesn't.
The issue isn't age. It's the fact he didn't play a season of hs football. Every practice helps.

To be honest so am I. They have beaten this to death but they never seem to mention that he's the same age as a normal freshman because his father held him back in the 6th grade for sports.
