being that I am, after all, a warlord and can do anything I please, I would put Mellencamp on the Farfisa organ, Springsteen on the tuba, and Seger on the tambourine, dress them in brightly-colored pastel leisure suits, and make them dance about while performing as a Kitty Wells cover band.

Zeppelin or The Stones.
Seriously, with the 3 listed, Bruce and Seger have 5-10 great songs, but once I get past those - meh. Johnny Cougar had some good ones I guess, but was always more of a lightweight pop guy in my eyes, but some of his songs do trigger some great memories.
Edit: Maybe more like 3-5 great songs.

After the Darkness on the Edge of Town album in 78, it seems he went straight R&R and sounded like many others.

seen. Dude was crunk. Still mixing in classic early R&R covers at that point After the Darkness album, not so much.
Saw Seger in Clemson in the same year, really great show, he's got a lot of great tunes. As I've said before, I think that concert is the first time I saw a wireless mike, when Alto Reed disappeared off the stage and reappeared up in the rafters wailing on his sax.

It was like heaven and went on forever.

by process of elimination. Not biggest fan, but I don't dislike anything Seger's ever done - all solid stuff, but I've heard some of it a bit too much on the classic rock stations.
My freshman Clemson roommate from New Jersey playing Springsteen 24/7 and devoted worship gave me a lifelong extreme distaste for him.
I like John Mellencamp, but he is dang WEIRD, bitter and almost hostile. You ever seen an interview with him?

Never LOVED any of the three. Each of them had songs I liked. Of the three, Seger is the only one I've ever covered as a player, and the only one I've seen live.

Seger--the 9 tonight CD is a party rocker.
Nine Tonight is a live album by American rock band Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, released in 1981 (see 1981 in music). The album was recorded at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan, in June 1980 and at the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts in October 1980. With the exception of three tracks — "Nine Tonight", "Tryin' To Live My Life Without You" and "Let It Rock" — the album is composed entirely of songs drawn from Seger's three previous studio albums. Only "Let It Rock" was repeated from the previous live album Live Bullet. "Tryin' to Live My Life Without You" was released as a single and peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. The album's title track was originally recorded for the Urban Cowboy soundtrack album.

But springsteen and mellencamp grate on my nerves, while Segrr has some tunes I do really like.
This debate has come up more than a few times among various groups, and I find a regional bias toward Bruce in the NE, cougar in the MW, and seger in general.
Did not mean at the exclusion of all others fwiw.
Now, stones, zeppelin, The Who or the Beatles?

Springsteen's got the Nebraska album, but not much else I'd listen to. Mellencamp has 2-3 albums I like. I'm a fan of Seger right up until Shakedown was released.
