Let’s not presuppose that potential employment wouldn’t be sustainable for many years – a more sensitive phrasing would be “Steve Careers.”
I wish the US BLS understood this as well.

I appreciate the way he prefaced "oversimplified" with "too" to let everyone know that he was referring to a really bad mistake.

Apple aggressively raided other firms
Dec 2, 2022, 1:09 PM

|
Aggressively Recruit the Best From Other Firms The pirate-raiding mentality at Apple certainly carries over into recruiting. Apple has a long history of recruiting away top talent from other firms. In fact, the development of its iPod probably wouldn’t have occurred if it wasn’t for importing external talent from firms that didn’t appreciate the value of this new technology. Steve Jobs himself has been known to get directly involved in recruiting top talent. Apple has a top-grading type philosophy in that it targets top performers. Jay Elliot, its former VP of HR, cites one of Apple’s core principles as: ”Always… hire the best ’A’ people. As soon as you hire a B, they start bringing in Bs and Cs.”

I was just going to make a salad and some skirt steak. I am trying to decide if I want to do all of that or just make a sandwich. What approach should I take?

If I create advice from the above thread I would advise you to:
Make a salad on a sandwich with a multitude of ingredients both while making the salad and when seasoning the steak. Do not use an easy recipe. Then find a new and innovative way to cook the steak so your final product will be something nobody has ever seen before. While you are at it, maybe think of a way to cook the salad too. Bake your own bread for the sandwich.
It will be great.

Steve Jobs was a kick-ass CEO that turned a company completely around after it had faltered. He wasn’t there when it faltered though. It didn’t falter under his watch….it was completely dominant under his watch.

If this is some dig at our program perhaps you should check the actuality of his term. Jobs oversaw three years of negative returns and three years of significantly below market returns in his second tenure from 1997-2011. I wouldn’t describe either of the last two years as either. 10 wins a year is still well above market average.

Well i think i disagree with Mr. Jobs on this. in my expierence most times people dig down into a rabbit hole when they overcomplicate a problem that has a simple solution. Where I work I see extremely intelligent individuals get tunnel vision and miss the layup issues and tear things up worse digging down the rabbit hole. Start simple work towards the complex issues, don't just jump into the Doomsday scenario.

Not many people bold enough to assert they have better management instincts than Steve Jobs. But good on ya for that level of confidence.

Knowing is not enough. We must apply. Willing is not enough. We must do. ― Bruce Lee
Remember, action today can prevent a crisis tomorrow. ― Steve Shallenberger
An optimist is neither naive, nor blind to the facts, nor in denial of grim reality. An optimist believes in the optimal usage of all options available, no matter how limited. As such, an optimist always sees the big picture. How else to keep track of all that’s out there? An optimist is simply a proactive realist. Vera Nazarian

This morning i could not get the box of cereal open again, so I got a knife and stabbed a hole in the side to get my food out of it. It worked pretty well, This steve jobs guy may want to take some lessons from my experience solving simple problems.

great example balm
you can also bust a pesky beer, wine, or liquor bottle top against side of curb. it’s really safe and easy. plus, glass is basically rock - so, no clean up.

Could not find that quote from Jobs. Found one like it:
"When you first start off trying to solve a problem, the first solutions you come up with are very complex, and most people stop there. But if you keep going, and live with the problem and peel more layers of the onion off, you can oftentimes arrive at some very elegant and simple solutions. Most people just don't put in the time or energy to get there. We believe that customers are smart, and want objects which are well thought through."
Wry different. Maybe I am just not finding it or you have a bad source.
