When evaluating this season

Nov 25, 2012, 12:49 PM

one needs only look at the fact that the best team we beat this year was Ball State. That to me pretty much sums up our year. We beat a lot of bad football teams. We lost to good football teams.

I'm not 100% sure that this Clemson team should even be ranked in the top 25. We played one good half of football against FSU (who also didn't beat anyone this year) and one good quarter of football against SC. Other than that we racked up a lot of numbers beating down scrubs. I'm not sure how you can look back at this season and feel that it was any kind of success other than the fact we didn't choke to a vastly inferior opponent like we have done in the past. It's hard to take any satisfaction in the 10 wins against creampuff U when we didn't show up for the only two quality opponents on our schedule.

Absolutly Right!

The teams we beat this year had a combined record of 51-67. Ball state had the best record at 9-3.

You act like we can control who we play. We also cannot control how good or bad ACC is. All we can do is win, and did that a bunch this year. I'm hurting right now like every other Tiger fan is, but sun comes up tomorrow and things need to be worked on. Some Clemson fans are starting to sound like the coot fans in the late 90's and early 2000's. Dabos last 3 years; 6-7, 10-4, and this year 11-2 or 10-3. Come on please see the big picture here

Hard to call...both are valid points...

Yes we've gone from 6-7 to 10-4, and now even better this year...*but* the competition we've faced has declined over that same period.

And yes we don't control who we play, *but* we were scheduled two "real" games this year and we lost them both. Now what do we do...should we talk about how we beat the 10 nobodys and be content, or focus on the two games that mattered, realize we failed, and figure out what needs to be done to win them next time? Where does your satisfaction lie...in beating the creampuffs, or winning the real games?

I'd say that my sentiments are summed up pretty nicely by the original poster...

Records are deceiving. We played two good teams and lost them both. The season was not near as successful as the record indicates.
