Tyshon Dye listed as 4th string rb?

May 29, 2015, 1:50 PM

I thought he would of been the backup to Gallman, if he doesn't get much playing time this season he will most likely transfer

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

he is listed as the back up...

May 29, 2015, 1:52 PM

along with brooks & davidson.

i guess summer & fall will help separate them further or at least when the wofford game kicks off?

May 29, 2015, 1:56 PM [ in reply to Tyshon Dye listed as 4th string rb? ]

I have not seen Dye look as good as Gallman or even Davidson.

He looked slow to the eye test the few times he was out there. He needs to work himself back and EARN his spot out there.

If not then let him transfer. The best players should play.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Last time the best player didn't play we lost 2 of the first 4 games, when it was clear by the eye test who the best player was. no more cole stoudts please.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I will actually agree with atlantatigre

May 29, 2015, 3:05 PM

Ty-Dye does look slow at times. He needs to keep working. But in that, so does Zac Brooks. I think that is why you have the word "or" listed there. In terms of skill level, Brooks and Dye are both still rehabbing an injury. I wouldn't expect that running backs suffering injuries would zoom pass two healthy running backs. In my opinion, WGIII is miles ahead of the three listed and its a toss up between CJ, Brooks, and Ty-Dye. I think they will all see the field regardless of opponent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tied for second team which actually says a lot

May 30, 2015, 9:47 AM [ in reply to Tyshon Dye listed as 4th string rb? ]

it's that the depth chart is more like a suggestion when it comes to the running backs. Dye may be listed as 4th but if he will get plenty of carries and if he is blowing it up in the game then he will keep getting the ball. All the running backs will be getting plenty of touches this season unless one player really separates himself from the pack.

What's the latest word on Travis Blanks?

May 29, 2015, 2:01 PM

I remember them discussing how he plays more naturally at the hybrid spot than exclusively safety or corner, but I dont think I see him on this list? I went to check the roster but don't even see him on there either. What's the word on him?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: What's the latest word on Travis Blanks?

May 29, 2015, 2:05 PM

he will probably get a few reps at the Nickel /SLB spot in place of Wiggins (who is also a backup safety)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Blanks is still out with an ACL

May 30, 2015, 2:12 AM

Bleedorange09.. 2 different situations.. One is a projected starter (Watson) the other is a projected back up (Choice).. Why not redshirt Choice if you have enough backs to carry the load and create separation from the other backs in his class.. All while giving him more than enough time to fully recover from injury

Re: FB Update: Clemson releases 2015 Summer Depth Chart

May 29, 2015, 2:03 PM

we'll be alright, though I definitely expect the three 5 stars to make the 2 deep. Wilkins could probably pass byers and even if he doesn't he should be the 5th man for sure. With Germone on there twice and Renfrow on there, I expect Cain will make the 2 deep and McCloud will as well. Renfrow is talented but shouldn't be above either of them after fall camp.

He was out all spring with the ACL injury, just now getting back on his wheels as announced in April by Dabo. Didn't really do anything with the team in the spring to put him in the first depth chart that is based only on spring.

Bell will be red-shirted. Keep hearing is very raw in the way of skill set.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Let me clarify

May 29, 2015, 3:08 PM [ in reply to Re: Let me clarify ]

Yeah it was surprised too but I think he's playing the 9-Man position behind Williams and Thompson and it's only the 2-deep so he's probably 3rd.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Let me clarify

Jun 3, 2015, 9:39 PM

That could be the case as well. I see it (possible redshirt for Bell) as a good thing. To me, that is defined by the amount of high level talent Clemson has across the board at WR. It means he would get a who year to hone at the 9-man with training across the board.

Everyone thought Bryant and Watkins were hard to defend skill and talent wise. In context, you have Williams in at "9", Scott and Peake interchangeable at the "2" and "slot." My word, who do you try to eliminate???

I don't understand

May 29, 2015, 6:48 PM

How Adam choice could be redshirting bc of his injury while DW has the same injury and is expecting to be ready by fall practice.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I don't understand

May 29, 2015, 7:56 PM

Some people work harder and do the right things to properly rehab, some don't...some just have set backs....same reason as to why Deshaun can make it back or even have played on a torn ACL but Peake couldn't the same way.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I don't understand

May 29, 2015, 10:54 PM

I heard Dabo call DW a mental and genetic freak

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm sure Choice is working as hard as he can to get back

May 30, 2015, 9:42 AM [ in reply to Re: I don't understand ]

I would think the biggest set back and why Choice would not be ready but DW can go is two things.

1. Severity of the injury. Choice may of had a more extensive injury than Watson, even though both are ACL tears there could have been more to Choice's injury than the ACL he may have injured other ligaments too.

2. Position. It's one thing to play not 100% when you may run 10 times in the whole game, most of which are straight forward, and other than that you drop back ad throw or hand the ball off. But there would be a much higher risk of re-injury for Choice where he is running and making cuts on every play he is in. Even if he doesn't have the ball there is motion and blocking guys twice his size coming full speed plus getting rolled up on in the line. Same thing for a WR. We saw in the coot game DW was fine throwing and running forward but when he had to roll out or run to the side his knee gave out pretty easily.

Everything we have heard Choice has great work ethic, to be the starter as a true freshmen I believe it's a must.
