PSA: Acceptable instances to root for USC
Jun 29, 2010, 10:03 AM
|
|
It is okay to root for USC in the following situations.
1. The opponent is: + al-Qaeda + the Taliban + North Korea + Hezbollah + serial murderers + cancer + Justin Bieber (see also: cancer)
2. The opposing head coach is Rick Barnes, but only if a USC victory would be a minor upset at best. For moderate to major upsets, one must root for the Traitor. This one is controversial, but acceptable. Use your discretion.
3. Equestrian, because really, who gives a d*mn?
Note: Is is NOT OKAY to root for USC against UGA. The appropriate response to this game is to root for injuries and/or a meteor strike. One may also begrudgingly root for UGA if only to make sure they remind USC of its proper place in the sports world.

It is also acceptable to root for USC against Nazis or Neo-Nazis. Especially Illinois Nazis.

I actually agree with that, mostly. Though it wouldn't tear me up to see USC beat Rick Barnes.
The rest of them are obviously in fun because they're made-up sporting events. (Equestrian? Yes, i mentioned "made-up"... )

It was all in fun, dude. I don't *actually* wish for people to get hurt (unless their last name was Taneyhill, perhaps). The joke when I was in school, back when you could have ties in football, was that the best outcome to a USC-UGA game was a 0-0 tie with lots of injuries. It was, however, a joke. I figured the reference in my original post was pretty obviously a joke.
