Rewatched the ACC championship tonight

I was at my office Christmas party on Saturday night, so I couldn’t really watch the game.
I got home in time to see the kick but not much before that.
Rewatched the game tonight. We played a good game, but BOTH McElroy and McDonough said SMU outplayed us for 3 quarters.
What game were they watching? We rolled in the first half, was a performance tie in the 3rd quarter, Offense fell flat in 4th and didn’t finish the game, but the D didn’t cave, SMU made a lot of plays…hats off to them.
Anyway, I feel a lot better now that I saw our performance. This was NOT the same cave in we saw against USuCk. Let’s go shock the world in the playoffs!
GOTIGERS!

We were ahead by 17 when the 4th quarter started and you say the defense did not cave and let them tie us. Were you watching the game I watched when a 3 man rush in the 4th quarter never affected the QB. Wes falls apart in the heat of the moment and needs to go back to the booth. He is worthless on the sideline in the second half. Their OC adjust and he never adjust back.

Go back and watch the game. There are 16 seconds left when SMU scores tieing TD on a perfectly executed rub play (sound familiar). Before that, if the offense did more we win the game in regulation. Defense was not the problem. 3 man rush did what it’s intended to do. They burned a lot of clock, but SMU made plays when they had to.

Exactly. Cade admitted it in post game interview on the field. We have to play complimentary football. I don’t think we’ve done it all season.

That’s because with a 17 point lead, Dabo told Riley to tone down tempo and aggressive pass attack to try and bleed some of the clock thinking that a 3 score lead would be insurmountable.
Not sure why he thought that, knowing how quickly SMU can put points on the board.
In his defense I guess, he probably looked at the defense keeping them contained to 10 points and forcing TOs and thought the defense could hold his own. Little did he know, that Goodwin is a master of “fumbling the bag” so to speak.

I understand why you say that but we were STILL passing the the ball in the 4th, just didn’t execute.
I continue to be dumbfounded about why we continue to run a hurt MAFAH. That really was a wasted down except for 1 of 5 attempts.

After Haynes went down, there was no other RB who had taken meaningful snaps. It’s a tough ask to ask someone to step in and make a play that hasn’t been asked to do so when it matters at all, all season, especially against a team that ranks top 5 in rush defense.
I do believe that Eziomume can step up and make some plays, if they give him the reps in practice with the 1s to learn the gameplan and assignments.
I won’t argue that running Mafah into the ground the last 3-4 weeks while he’s been injured, instead of giving another back the chance is a huge miscalculation.

Agree. Cade has to get just a hair better at completing passes when it really matters.
I go back to the overthrow on 3d down in the USuCk game that could have given us the opportunity to run the clock and bury them, but he throws 2 yds high over Williams head. Small things like that are the difference between appearing dominant and looking incompetent.
We are soooo cloe!
GO TIGERS!

We still have what I consider an anemic offense...Mafah been hurt for 4 games..great Tiger but should be replaced..goofy play calling still...6 in the box for SMU, 4 for Clemson we still run the play and lose 6..what the heck...too many missed offensive chances, D on the field too much...still don't use TE enough...TD to stool should always be open...can't have 3 cover TE!...We still win Dabo is great motivator!
