Baby Beamer, young ND guy > Complacent Dabo. Common theme:

Special teams. Those boys are hungry and found an edge where they could. That coupled with our complacency = embarrassing losses.
Also, realized this morning I had seen yesterday’s game before. It was Syracuse part II. But the coots aren’t as dumb as Cuse and we at least pulled DJ vs. Syracuse. But. Same low energy. Same dumb play calling.
And that stupid trick play after the safety. Just not having that swing alone would have probably won us the game.
It’s going to take a while to get over this one.

isn't the loss. It's the Coach and his coordinators having no real accountability and doubling down on their failing methodology while berating the fans for suggesting that maybe they aren't earning their massive paychecks. Dabo spouts off more meaningless historical stats than Tim Bourett these days in a post-game. I'd feel a lot better if he just said "It's unacceptable. We're letting the players and the fans down and what we're doing isn't working. I'm going to fix it. Not willing to discuss how right now, but trust me, I'm going to fix it." The 10 win stat ad nauseam makes me want to destroy some sheet rock.

I was texting buddy I looked forward to hearing all of the glorious stats rattled off to us after the game on why we need to just keep on keeping on.
I love Dabo. He's given me more sports glory than I could have ever imagined even if i'd made a deal with the devil, but we're at an interesting point right now. It doesn't take more than a few seasons to derail everything. Despite the record, this is two in a row where we simply don't have "it" anymore. They are either loyal beyond imagination to DJ...or Cade is not what we hoped he was, and neither of those possibilities are good ones.
I hope they'll make some changes in the off season, but i doubt it. Because Dabo's way has worked for a long time, which is great, but he seems even more stubborn than Nick Saban once did in terms of adapting. Be in NIL, portal, making tough decisions with staff/players, if something doesn't change soon then it's all going to change for the worse.
8/29 for 99 is a stat line i won't forget for a long time. He's a great person, but he's just not a good quarterback. I know it, you know it, most people outside the program know it.

Agree 100%, but it all starts with recognition and [2] Nov 27, 2022, 11:52 AM Reply
acknowledgement of these glaring, obvious problems. While I completely understand and agree that a coach should never throw players under the bus, there almost seems to be a denial by Dabo and other coaches that these problems even exist. I understand if we don't fire the OC or totally revamp the offense mid-season, but to keep doing the same old thing signals either a huge blind spot, or outright denial of the problem, and THAT is what I think Clemson fans find so baffling and frustrating.
In a nutshell, how does a program with the tradition, clout, and resources Clemson has, wind up with such a consistently poor offense and poor QB play? And don't insult us by bowing up and acting pissed when we ask that question, and don't insult us further by minimizing these problems or rationalizing them. Our offensive performance and QB play has been consistently poor; acknowledge it and tell us how you are going to fix it.
