It's being talked about... Past coaching stints at App State and NC State. Probably just a rumor but heard it from a neighboring UNC booster and Rams Club big shot.

Middle aged with experience. I'm not sure where all these schools are going to find replacements unless they're poached from other schools.

I just checked and he makes 9 million per year at Missouri. Leaving Missouri for UNC would be a step down in pay and football class. I’m a UNC grad saying that because it’s just true. Why would he leave?

A SEC coach would rationally leave for an ACC job if he sees that quality of depth on his current team’s roster will not be good enough to fill in for this year’s starters. Combined with what may be a likely weak recruiting class and a lack of monetary resources to attract experienced players via the Portal, such circumstances would motivate a good SEC coach to leave to take a job at an underperforming, yet monetarily sound, ACC team.

What quality of depth will be left at UNC when the portal opens next week?

That's why you go to the portal to get more depth.

Can't see him leaving the SEC unless he figures he's got a better chance of winning a league championship which is certainly true.

UNC has the funding and resources a younger coach willing to adapt to today's recruiting and portal environment could put to good use. Sure he is in the SEC, but he would have an easier path annually to a league championship and that is his ticket to the CFP. Missouri may be an SEC team now, but they are not an SEC darling. UNC would be attractive to the right coach even if it's a current SEC coach at a less attractive program.

I think Bubba will hire a proven HC who has done well in a good conference with less resources. Not saying any of these would be hired, but a couple coaches at Duke and Wake who did well. Bubba is not going with a flash in the pan HC. THAT'S NOT THEIR STYLE IN FB OR BASKETBALL.

Agreed, but I think the availability in the proven coaches pool is limited. Plus, you've got to get someone "new school" enough to attract players and maximize NIL, portal, and recruiting. Mack Brown was rode hard and put up wet when he came back to UNC, how often do you think his age and shelf life worked against him with recruits? Proven youth is a tough combination to find in today's coaching world.
