Florida is the ####. Beautiful, huge beaches, and not many people at all. On the flip side there's not a whole lot of night life or restaurants, but it's quite peaceful.

Europe with my parents and sister

Jan 10, 2014, 11:57 AM

We have immediate family living in Germany, so we stayed with them for two days to get over our jet lag.

Then we hopped on trains and traveled the western part of the continent.

-We hit Zurich in Switzerland and took gondolas up a mountain where my parents bought me a Swiss Army knife (which I promptly sliced my finger open with).

-Then went to Venice and stayed in Piazza San Marco. Ate pizza at least twice a day and rode in a gondola there as well.

-Went to Rome next and and did the tour of the Roman Empires capital and the Vatican. Was really neat. Ate a lot more pizza in Rome also.

-Went to Paris and did the tours there and went to the top of the Eiffel Tower which was neat. Parents got drunk and I had to walk them home because they are directionally challenged (even when sober)

-Found out soccer hooligans do exist and it is a terrifying scene in a train station when they are around. I saw more beer cans on a single loading station at a train station then than I did at the Clemson vs. FSU game this year.

Great trip and our last trip as a full family cause my sister was about to graduate college.

Jan 10, 2014, 12:10 PM

That was the first and only vacation we have ever been on. When I was little, I was sent on vacation with my Aunt so he could have a vacation from me. The 2012 Aerosmith/White Sox/drink to forget trip is second. Most others ended up with people mad at each other or various other hurt feelings. I also haven't taken too many real vacations.

He isn't out, but I bet he would suck me off if I pulled it out. Also, his wife (my cousin) is a real fatty. But they got married and had a kid, probably something they both wanted and they are ignoring the fact that he wants her to grow a peen. Worst part about it, they have disowned another close cousin who is out of the closet cause they don't accept homosexuality in that family. Ell Oh Ell.

You get to pick and choose what you want to judge people on.

Jan 10, 2014, 12:42 PM

I think that is in the Bible. The book of Mordor maybe

"Thou shalt judge people on whatever thou wantest; whiout regard to what thou hast done in thine past or what thou ist currently performing on the adjacent person's nether regions."

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I judge based on bumper stickers they have on their car

Jan 10, 2014, 12:46 PM

and make presumptions from there. Like if you've got a Yeti sticker...I'll just go ahead and assume you're a short shorts wearing, bow tie momo, visor rocking, frat star with no real concept of reality or money.

Went a couple of times to Braves spring training...

Jan 10, 2014, 12:18 PM

in West Palm Beach. A lot of things made it the best.
Happened during the last few years of my grandmother's life, and i'm not sure there has ever been a bigger Braves fan (sorry Prod)
About five of us went down there for a week.
WPB was an awesome place to see spring training. Talked directly with Smoltz, Maddux, Glavine, McGriff, Bobby Cox, Mazzone, the whole crew. Met Glavine's parents, Maddux and Smoltz wives, etc. Cox even walked over and gave us some cracked bats from the previous day's game one morning.

The Braves set my Grandmother up with two tickets RIGHT behind the plate. During the games she sat next to James Carville a few times, Ray Goff and his wife once, Christie Brinkley once (she was there for TOPPS cards), Neal Boortz etc.
Of course you better believe I sat next to her when Christie Brinkley was there.

Very cool place and a great vacation.

Two weeks of complete peace and quiet staying on Sarah Adams (Ansel Adams Granddaughter) former ranch. I didn't think there was a place left in the lower 48 with zero traffic noise and no people in sight.

We backpacked in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, took two day trips into Mammoth Lakes, visited Yosemite, partied with the locals at the area dives, and listened to two fantastic regional bands.

If a measuring stick of a great vacation is the relative difference in stress level beforehand and afterwards, then this was hands down our best one.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Grindenwald, Switzerland (over New Year's) many moons ago

Jan 10, 2014, 12:43 PM

Went out with some "locals" who were friends of the bartender in our hotel. ONe guy was from Australia, the bartender was from Miami, and there was a chick from Hong Kong also. Hit a few euro-trash teachno night clubs, and ended up drinking Cardinal beer our of huge glass mugs in a pub somewhere.

Hong Kong chick started grinding on me and we ended up somehow back in my hotel room. She was from Hong Kong, and spoke English, Mandarin, French, German, and Italian. In fact, I'm pretty sure she spoke to me using all of those languages as the night wore on.

The streets were a scene of udder debauchery with drunks everywhere, and littered with literally thousands of champagne and beer bottles. A line of about 30 burly men walk through the village streets dressed like characters from the movie Bravehart carrying huge, 100-lb over-sized cowbells hanging down to their knees from straps around their necks. They march around in unison hitting the huge cow bells with their knees/thighs in rhythm as they walk. You could hear those bells echo off the alps, literally.

Somehow I ended up walking out of a bar with a Cardinal beer mug, which I have to this day. Got a letter in the mail a year later from Hong Kong. It was from the chick who I hooked up with. Said it was the best New Years ever. And the best news was she didn't mention anything about a kid!

Yep...that was my senior year in high school. Pretty sure I was 17 at the time.
