What is It

I see a lot of discussion on here about how DJ didn’t have “It”, and a lot of the Cade naysayers are also claiming that he doesn’t have “it”, or that, “ he ain’t it”.

But what is “it”? (Credit to Mike Patton)

DJ was looking better, but found some of his old self yesterday with two interceptions and several overthrows.

I’m not one of those folks but I do understand. Go back and watch TL16 against GT in ‘18. KB2 didn’t have “it” and TL16 had “it”. Similarly, go back and watch the ‘14 season with Stout and DW4. DW4 had it.

Offense looks smooth. Every inch of the field is used. Lots of space. QB run is on the table. Off schedule plays lead to chunk plays. Etc.

"IT" is the right mix of talent, leadership and RESULTS. We got to see 2 very different looking but equally effective guys in Watson and Lawrence. It's hard to see "IT" in another player after that was the standard for over 5 years. Don't forget. Kelly Bryant wasn't bad in that transition year. He just wasn't DW4 or TLaw. I think Klubnik is probably 2 rungs below those guys right now. If the game doesn't slow down for him soon and he doesn't stop making some really BAD decisions, he won't be able to get out of his own way. However, I think he will do those things.

He made a couple of really good decisions to throw the ball away last night. Then he made a couple of terrible decisions. One was the late throw on the crosser that should have been picked off. The other was on the TD to Brown. He threw that dude open on that play. The coverage was not bad. He had a better option on the right side of the formation but it looked like Collins was a decoy or broke off his route on the play and the underneath crosser was wide open. You can tell his talent has overcome his decision making in HS. He has to clean that up. Again, I think he will but it's going to take some time. Hopefully the talent wins more often than decision making until the latter catches up.
