What (if anything) do you miss from Chad Morris' offense?

The Top Wins of the Dabo Era got me to thinking about this. I have to admit, due to our WR talent year-in-and-year-out, i kind of liked all the Jet Sweeps we used to run with Sammy Watkins, Nuk, and Artavis Scott (Freshman year). It was a good way to get our talented Wideouts the ball in space, and it always was an exciting play- because you knew if they could make 1 guy miss, it would turn into a big gain.

Frustration. Curiosity about whether we would move the ball. Present offensive scheme and coaches are better. Had to crawl before we walk and I credit Coach Morris with getting it all started.

Trick plays in the red zone that take the ball out of the QB’s hand

And have your All American receiver throw to your QB. All while threatening to go up 14-0 on your rival who you haven’t beat in 4 years. Oh not to mention at the time the running game is on fire and the OL is opening gaping holes.

Nothing. I appreciate what he did for us but his play calling got too cute at times.

It cost us the SC game in 2013.

I think that helped take our conditioning to another level on both sides of the ball.

Anyone who relies on that many Red Bulls to keep going is bound to fall into the "latest fad" category

Nothing. His offense was too complex. The Play Book weighed 150 lbs. He did get the ball rolling, but Elliott & Scott have taken us to a whole new level.

I liked the fast pace. I really missed that at times under

Scott and Elliott, when it seemed that we were going too slow on offense. It's hard to complain with the results under our current offensive coordinators though!
Chad did some great things for our program, and I appreciate the aggressive attitude he helped instill. I don't miss the stubbornness he seemed to have at times though, nor the over reliance on cutesy plays in the red zone.

I missed the trick plays in a good way (like not running them) when we were moving the ball with out them. It seemed we ran plays just to run them... no effort or expectations from them. I appreciate his fast pace and not allowing defenses to adjust...I miss that now.

Chad Morris got our conditioning to the next level. He did get way to cute in the RZ.
At first I thought this question was what do we miss about Rob Spence, now that would be a much better question. Bc personally I miss the 15 WR screens a game, they definitely weren’t predictable or anything like that.

Tempo.

I miss the tempo we played at. We didn't have the talent we have now and the up tempo helped level the playing field. Disclaimer: "I love what Scott and Elliott have done far more that what Morris did"! But, I do as already said, give Coach Morris credit for laying the foundation. Imagine our offense with our athletes going Syracuse fast! Defenses having to play "basic" against the likes of TL, JR, TH, TE9, etc. etc. etc. No complaints - just answering the OP question: the tempo!

NADA Thought he was the smartest man in the room. We are much better without him. Cost us a game against usuc. Glad he is gone. We are much better without him.
