It's happened to all our candy. They've switched to corn syrup instead of sugar, also they've reduced the content of cocoa butter in chocolate. Sell me a smaller bar with better ingredients.
When our english neighbor comes back from visiting her family she brings us candy. There is no comparison between english bars and our rubbish. Even Cadbury USA bars are not the same as real Cadburys from England.

The peanut M&Ms and the caramel ones are incredible. The original Twix is great as well.

Haven’t had a Butterfinger lately, will have to give it a taste test! Always had my favorite candy bars since childhood but within the last year or two, had a Heathbar for the first time. Wish I had eaten them sooner. What a great find.

Butterfinger changed hands in 2018. Nestle sold it to Ferrero. The publicly changed the formula in 2019. Cut out some of the preservatives, actually increased the cocoa content but also changed the type of peanuts used - my guess, they dropped using a Virginia type for the new Georgia runner type. They could have been using a Spanish variant but I would assume Virginia just because of the volume preference.

Or you had COVID and they are damaged forever. COVID is a disease created by candy bar manufacturers to use less flavor and charge more increasing the profit margin.

The manufacturers use genetically modified cow milk to produce a less than desirable taste.

I only eat kale, flaxseed, raw sheep’s milk, and Xanax, so I wouldn’t know. If I ever get a sweet tooth, I have it extracted by my uber-holistic dentist.
J/k, but yeah, most candy is gross. Even the jewel in the crown of the American confectionary - Reese’s cups - aren’t as good any more. The single foil-wrapped ones taste nothing like the big ones at all, and they won’t sell big ones covered in dark chocolate like they should. Trader Joe’s actually has really good dark chocolate peanut butter cups, fwiw.

While we're at it, bring back light brown M&M's and have 3 Musketeers always sucked? They are nothing but fluff, seems like they were better when they were in a white wrapper. Maybe thats back when i was young and any candy was good candy.

Paydays, Zeroes and Three Mouseeaters.
Fast forward, and my son wouldn't eat any of those, preferring Reece's Cups. Fast forward more, and my grands wanted nasty stuff like granola bars. No wonder our young folks are half looney...Who in the dickens can live without all that sugar, chocolate and other crap mixed up in those good, old candy bars? lol
