Hmmm? I'm surprised that you asked this question. This should be a no-brainer. Not because CLEMSON is that superior in academics, but one's education is possibly the most important decision that one can make in their life. It is the one event on the space-time-continuum that is relevant to one's success/failure in life.
That do it fer ya'?

They become Tigers . Then they spend the rest of their lives wondering how they could have been so misled by their own.

I think it absolutely will convert the student. You can't spend time on the Clemson campus and not have your blood turn orange. It is contagious. The student's family will catch it too.

families that I have known my entire life that are SCAR alumni/major Gamecock fans (I'm talking generational) who are sending their kids to Clemson, AND are ecstatic about it. A couple of them have told me that they simply don't want their child living in Columbia.

Columbia is not that bad as a city, but certain parts are quite bad. I've seen Clemson versus the Midlands and climate wise, as well as culture wise there is no comparison. My wife and I likely will retire to the upstate if that tells how feel.
Go Tigers!

as long as the person makes the complete convert. But I don't know about these people that go to Clemson and wear their Coot gear to class and around campus like they're out to prove something. That just screams ######.

They're entitled to their opinion, but they're missing out on one of the best parts about Clemson--the sports and feeling like you're a part of a family that pulls for the same team.
I know a few people who came to Clemson as lifelong Gamecocks and will not wear orange or pull for Clemson, my old neighbor was a Georgia fan and he did nothing but hate on the Tigers. I personally don't get it, but if you're not a fan you're not a fan. Clemson has certain majors that other schools don't have, so if you had to choose between paying double for out-of-state tuition or going to a rival's school it's probably not a hard choice.
