The SEC may no longer be a viable conference, long term...

Aug 27, 2021, 9:33 AM

With that said, does anyone know The Alliance's stance on SEC members who apply for membership? Outside of Alabama, I can't really think of any SEC schools that bring enough to the table to make it worth our while. And while I'm certain many SEC schools are reaching out behind the scenes, one of the harsh realities of the ever shifting conference environment the SEC created is that The Alliance will have to say "No" more times than not. That's bad news for schools like Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky, UGA, Missouri, etc...

All SEC teams' s**t doesn't stink. They don't need anybody else.

That is not correct...

The SEC and ESPN are scrambling as we speak. If you haven't noticed, they have been very quiet since Sankey made his remarks the day after The Alliance was announced. ESPN, who was pulling the strings behind SEC expansion, has been dealt a severe blow. They were banking on playoff expansion, which would allow more SEC teams in, generating more revenue. Don't forget, a major reason ESPN pushed the SEC to take OU and UT was so they could renegotiate the SEC Network (money loser) and cancel The Longhorn Network (money loser). The Alliance has killed playoff expansion, now the futures of the SEC & ESPN are in question.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

The SEC will soon become the minor league of the FBS***

That’s ridiculous! The SEC is, and will remain, the premier conference

for players who aren’t quite ready for Alliance-level competition to showcase their talents and hopefully land a spot on an Alliance team. To say that is not an important role is a disservice to those young hopefuls.

The problem with bringing in any SEC team outside of Vanderbilt is that you'd have to include Vanderbilt to balance the atrocious academics of the other team(s).

So, while it would be nice to play Alabama on a regular basis, I'm just not sure it's worth it.

There are I would say some pretty reputable sources already rumoring that Paul Finebaum has had his people reach out to the ACC Network about adding a chair in between Wes Durham and Mark Packer.

I believe a lot of this is a symptom of the Longhorn Network eventually making the SEC network become irrelevant and Paul basically looking out for No.1

congrats to bama for joining the alliance

as for the other sec members, they cood easily apply to aac or mountain west. of course, both of those conferences wood suffer nationally with the sec additions in football (and academics). but, sometimes you have to deal with subtraction by addition. on the bright side, some of the girls sports would take a positive hit.

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger
