I don't understand the tug fest to this. If you recruit at a high level and they are coached up and get the max potential out of them, it shouldn't matter. Sure if you have a huge weak spot and get a guy in to fill a whole it might help for a year or 2, but they act like you're suppose to fill an entire team every year with portal players.

How did Miami or Florida State or even UGA get into the National spotlight at all, the portal! None of these schools could compete with Clemson or Alabama before the recruiting cheating scandals became legal. Kirby Smart was just another "run of the mill" assistant, that South Carolina wouldn't even hire, until NIL and the Cheating Portal allowed him to start his run with an All Star team. I still say that Clemson is not playing Georgia on Aug. 31st, but the Athens All Stars! You may disagree with me, but as Rhett said to Scarlett, "Frankly I don't give a Da*n"

I swear, lol. We have the dumbest fans. Is it like this on all boards? Real people do not sound like you lot on Tigernet. It’s like one big circle jerk and everyone has blinders on.
Guys, the program is light years away from what it was for a decade straight. And guess what, the drop off coincides with the transfer portal and NIL becoming part of the sport.

Ridiculous! Clemson has not lost one game due to the portal. Injuries in the WR & OL rooms has hindered the offense. We have 2 Freshmen all Americans lead the WR room the past 2 years. Why? Because the veterans that would have been leading this room were all hurt. This is not the fault of your coaches, nor could this be anticipated for the coaches to go in the portal to get replacements. The defense has been fine without the transfer portal. Why? Because they have not experienced the amount of attrition that the offense has due to injuries! Sit back and watch this team wipe the floor with Georgia Aug 31st with a healthy team! I am telling you now Kirby is having a tough time figuring out depth on the DL and in the Secondary for his defense and behind Trevor Etienne he is in the same boat as Clemson is at RB. OL also is searching for depth and is somewhat unproven going in the first game. Clemson has depth, experience at all but 1 position (RB). Why would they need to go into the portal? Georgia had to go after T Etienne, they had nobody on their roster with any carries without him. Clemson however has Mafah and a RB room that is talented and capable of giving him a series or two of rest. Portal? Not needed! Oh and watch and see:

Clemson doesn't need the portal just because everyone else uses it. How many times is someone gonna talk about this??
