What are the odds one of our RBs come back next year?

I just started thinking about this....
We have two of the best backs in the country and behind them...theres basically zero snaps zero experience. I also dont see a lot of room this year for the #3 and #4 to get many touches. So if Mafah and Ship both leave this year...the RB group could be mighty thin.
However, this is Clemson. I could see one if not both staying for their senior year.

I suspect one of them comes back for the chance to be the featured back and hopefully boost their draft stock.

My guess is Mafah will come back to be the feature back helping his draft stock. We are hardly thin at RB even if he does not return as we have many backs to choose from although none have experience.

Clemson's emphasis on NIL is more about retaining players as opposed to enticing recruits. As low as RB's get drafted a NIL deal could be very comparable.

Mafah will be back unless he has a huge year …

He needs to be RB1 for a season.
But this much said, I’d like nothing better than to see both he and Shipley have the type of season that leads to the NFL, because it will mean that our offense has been on fire and we’re probably ACC champs and in the CFP.

I think there’s a high chance one of them comes back! Hopefully we can put together a very competitive NIL package.

Both, i don't think either is a first round pick unless Shipley has a monster season.

I don't see either coming back. RB's are no longer valued highly and 1st round grades are the exception not the rule. Couple that with a short life span in the NFL then I feel it's a make what you can when you can. The abuse a RB takes is pretty high compared to other positions, why waste that at the college level.

For sure! Last year there were only three RBs taken before

Round #3 …
None in the first round and those three were all in the second round.
Getting taken in Round 3 after this season would be a great accomplishment for Shipley (or most any RB these days) …

Ideally, Ship does enough to warrant him leaving for the NFL. That means he was extremely productive which is good for us.
If Mafah was going to transfer out - he would have done it this off season. Easy to believe that he would return to be RB1 for a season

Why would they want to delay making money then?
No way NIL money will outpace a 1st or 2nd round rookie contract.

College life for an athlete isn't what the average student gets.
They have 24/7 structure so they can balance their studies & practice.

Dabo will play everyone in the 4 deep. Maybe deeper.

Dabo doesn't wait to 'get a comfortable lead,' to play backups. That's why most of our games seem to go to the wire. It use to cause great anxiety but I got used to it after about 5 years.
My guess is that Ship will return. I don't think he's a first round pick but I believe maybe he should be. His attitude it worth half a mil/year.

Running backs have 2 things against them. 1st is a very short lifespan in the league and 2nd due to wear and rear are injury prone. That being said I doubt either comes back for another year.

It will take a "bag" to have Mafah back next year. Jarvis Green says hello

Really depends on how many RBs rated higher will enter the draft. If that number is greater than 4-5 there is a likelihood Mafah returns. I believe Shipley will be the higher rated back going into the season but that could possibly change by years end. It's highly doubtful both backs are selected if either are selected at all.

#3 and #4 (Thomas and Adams) will get plenty of touches. Have some faith.
Shipley should get drafted third or fourth round unless he has an insane season. Mafah ought to stay to be THE MAN next year, but if he's projected to make some money, I wouldn't fault him.
If our WRs get separation and CK2 can get the ball there, our backs will get more yards than last year.

I think there's a pretty good chance Mafah comes back. But in reality, it depends on numerous factors, including: 1. How does the overall offense perform? if both have fantastic years, both are probably gone. If mediocre or bad, both could be back. 2. if one RB does way better than the other RB, the least productive will probably be back. 3. injuries to either one that pulls either one (or both) from several games could mean either one (or both) return. 4. Other factors (breaking team rules, academic progress, etc.) could mean either (or both) leave or return.
I wouldn't be surprised if both leave or return whether the offense is productive or not. Definitely think if one is not extremely productive compared to the other RB, he will return (or even transfer). I would defintilu change my prediction based on what variables are in play.
in any case, there are too many variables to accurately predict this early in the season what will happen next year!

Odds are pretty good. Surely, they won't ALL leave.
