A couple of tough games does not define this team. Our season is not over. This is, without a doubt, the best team Brownell has had in a long time, if not ever, and they could still finish strong and make a run in the NCAA tournament.
BUT - the realities of our limitations, and perhaps our ceiling, were exposed the last two games. Yes, we were ice cold today, but a lot of that had to do with UNC having very good, athletic basketball players who played great defense. I can see us having the same problems with similar teams all year.
I'm confident that this team will still have some big wins this year, and continue to be a lot of fun to watch. While I think today was a sobering dose of reality, by no means is it time to give up.

I agree. Unc played some good defense, but we have to knock down our open looks.
This game could have been very ugly with the way we shot, but we were at the line towards the end of the game with a chance to make it a 1 possession game and missed 2 FT's from a great FT shooter.

Looks like we are going to have a lot of good ACC losses.
Too bad the ACC is the 5th rate conference...

we played well enough defensively today to win. Bottom line, this team can be great IF we make our shots. our defense and experience are good enough to allow us to win against inferior teams but against top 25 opponents we need to shoot 40% or better.

Great post. I agree. Miami and UNC just looked to have quite an edge in the athleticism category. Given UNC's history and Miami under Larenaga(sp?) that is not surprising and not something that should make us hang out heads. But we really needed this game today to sustain momentum. And we layed an egg. PJ Hall seems to be developing a tendency to not show up for our big games. Was a problem last year too. We have to have him lay big in these or we don't have a chance.
