Interesting that the highest viewership's were v SEC teams

Feb 21, 2023, 11:49 AM

and that the Clemson-FSU had low viewership. I know game times and competition from other games is a factor. There would have been no other games to watch when the Clemson-Tenn game was played.

I had no idea unequal revenue sharing was even on the table...

Football dwarfs basketball in revenue

Feb 21, 2023, 12:00 PM

Clemson, Florida State, and eventually Miami are the revenue generators. They are the reason for the television contracts. Clemson followed by Florida State are the best programs not already in the SEC or B1G. The ACC is desperate not to lose us. It actually benefit everyone in the conference to give Clemson more money if it keeps Clemson. But this is only short term. Like Dabo said it’s only a matter of time before the top 48 programs create their own league. And I think the number will be 48. That works perfectly from a playoff standpoint.

With 48 schools you can have 4 divisions with 12 teams and an 11 game regular season where you play each school in your division. Or something like eight teams from your division and rotate those with three or four regular season games outside of your division. Then the top two teams from each division will play in an eight team playoff.

My thoughts on revenue

Feb 21, 2023, 11:52 AM

A conference should equally distribute revenues that are negotiated for the conference as a whole such as television contracts.

But everything after that belongs to the schools. Every school makes decisions on which sports to prioritize and how much they plan to invest in things like baseball basketball and of course football. Schools that are not trying to be top-tier in the major revenue sports (basketball and football ) should not be leeches. They are already getting a disproportionate amount of revenue from the television contracts.

Any revenue a school generates from the NCAA tournament, bowl games, and the playoffs should be 100 percent their money. They are the ones that made the investment and put in the effort to make the postseason and be competitive at the highest level. Other schools should not be getting a #### penny of that money!

That makes cents, I mean sense. I guess I could research,

Feb 21, 2023, 12:01 PM

but do we know what a run to the Natty game or an Orange Bowl appearance pays?

I wonder how close that amount would be to the unequal revenue plan?

All the money comes from the television contracts.

Lol no!

Feb 21, 2023, 3:17 PM

You get paid to go to bowl games. You get paid to go to the playoffs. You get paid to go to the NCAA tournament. None of that has anything to do with a television contract.

You might want to do a little research because you don’t have any idea what you’re talking about.

And we’re talking millions and millions of dollars, especially when the playoffs are involved or if you make a deep run into the NCAA tournament.
