was anybody else surprised at our approach in the bottom of the 8th? I don't know what's on the bench as a pinch hitter, but we need one run (!). We stayed with someone who had 3 Ks, who gets her 4th. Then the one out hitter appears to be one of the "old school" slap hitters, and doesn't even try for a fly ball. I know it's easy to question strategy after it hasn't worked, but...
That "slap hitting" drives me nuts anyway. Same hitter stood in the and swund normally a couple innings later and hit a shot up the middle for a hit. Why didn't she do that when it counted. I hate slappers. Brockenbrough is a strong gal and can drive the ball. I have seen her do it. She needs to stop this trying to hit a grounder to the 3rd baseman every time.
