to Swoffie and his son. I hope his self-serving, nepotistic house of cards comes tumbling down and ruins their whole family financially. It would be some poetic justice for how many times Swofford appeared to give Clemson the shaft in favor of his precious UNC. I would enjoy seeing that happen all too much. Great article! Thanks for sharing!

I hope we see the total obliteration of all that Swafford built through his mismanagement of the ACC and its member schools.

Exactly as expected, this amended complaint makes the ACC administration look like a bunch of reactive morons. As long as Clemson ends up ok, I hope it blows up in their faces, but we’ll see.

Those renegades still agreed to all of it, signed it etc... now the rub is they need more money to buy a football team of idiots to come to FSU...it's not really about the ACC, who took them when nobody else wanted them...they pulled the whole conference downin graduation rate, and hire idiot coaches along with crab legs and other felonies...it's all about money...FSU thinks they are worth more than everyone else in the conference...even the whole conference...the `ME` mentality!

It is all about money. That's the point. That's exactly why most expect Clemson to follow suit in the coming weeks, and then probably UNC too.

With a bunch of smaller schools that put few buttons in the stands did we really expect the same money as the SEC...one WF game last year embarrassed me...there were so few people that they did not ever pan the stadium...If the SEC still had Tulane, Suwannee and GT you think they would get big money? CLEMSON, sometimes the others (FSU had to give away tickets 5 years ago) can't get 30k at a game! Clemson made the ACC a football conference and now FSU is trying to make us a laughing stock!

That's part of the problem. The ACC tried to expand "markets" and brought in a lot of basketball schools and private schools, that not only didn't give us those markets, but don't have the financial resources to invest in football to ever truly compete. They've continued this by adding value dilutive programs like Stanford, Cal, and SMU who, while not taking shares and bringing in a full pro rata shares (pro rata shares are about $8 mil less annually that the current payout per team), will be bringing in less money than current schools. That kicks the can down the road, as one day, all of those schools will receive full shares, which means less money per school. Do I think the SEC could still get the type of TV deal they have with those teams? Yes, and the B1G is a perfect example. The B1G makes more money than the SEC, and has teams like Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, Iowa, Rutgers, Maryland and Minnesota. Those schools don't have rabid fan bases, and generally don't move the needle in terms of ratings. The ACC is a dead conference walking, and it's only going to get worse from here. The teams that have the ability to get out, will do whatever they have to, and will get into what will eventually be the P2, and if not, they risk becoming irrelevant at the top level.

But SMU has billions mins from campus siting on the sidelines since the 80’s and some going to Texas. These boosters want SMU back to Glory and have indicated a willingness to step back in soon now.

Maybe, but I can tell you, growing up in Texas, I've only met a handful of SMU fans or alums, and half of those were family members. If the money truly is on the sidelines waiting, it's hidden better than their fan base.

Not sure if UNC will even be able to leave now. State legislature is working on a bill that forces UNC and NCSU to stay in the same conference or lose state funding. I can't see many conferences wanting both schools at the same time. And no way either leaves if it means no more state funding.

If i remember correctly, the bill still has to pass. And then I think it’s the statewide board that governs the universities that has to vote to allow or disallow leaving. Trust me, if UNC gets an invite to either the SEC or the.B1G, they will have the votes to leave

That law they are trying to pass to force NCST and UNC to stay in same conference sounds like a Swofford deal to me...Was it introduced by a Swofford family member of former Swofford ally?

I get you hate FSU but in this case they are doing us a favor. We need to have the freedom to move where our interests are best served and this is the only way. FSU fading the heat here is the best case scenario.

Swofford's self dealing has significantly and negatively impacted Clemson too. Not really sure how this is so difficult for you to grasp. I am thankful FSU is binging the heat to UNC, Raycom and the ACC mob bosses.

that Swofford's self-serving nepotistic transactions (adding Boston College to the league while his son worked in their Athletic Department and then the whole Raycom fiasco) were to the detriment of the conference.
Glad that someone finally called him out for it publicly.

How can FSU or any ACC school be forced to stay with a partner that hasn't looked out for their best interests and been so inept in business dealings.
Let's just look at the bungles the ACC has made over last 15 or so years
- Loses Maryland to Big 10 - Nepotism over best interest of the league with Swofford and Raycom. - Signing the GOR and ESPN deals without some provisions to renegotiate or adjust to market changes. - The ill-fated Alliance with Big Ten and PAC 12 on a hand shake deal. - Letting the SEC and Big 10 make big power moves and even the Big 12 swipe up teams to survive while ACC stood pat. ACC wound up going west anyways, so why not pick up Kansas, Oklahoma St, TCU, Utah, Arizona, etc when they had the chance. - ACC finally made a move when the dust settled and picked up leftovers with zero brands and clouts in Stanford, Cal and SMU.
Swofford, Philips and ACC have been poorly run and set up the ACC to be raided. I wouldn't be surprised if FSU does find the loophole and escape route from the GOR and is out within 3 seasons.

It was not just you--hands down they were the worst fans. Also, Maryland left because their athletic department was bankrupt. They finally became solvent with the help of the B10.

the latest article stated
The Seminoles say the ACC Constitution requires the conference give notice of a meeting of its board and then secure a two-thirds majority vote before the, “initiation of any material litigation involving the conference.
“Nowhere in either of the two complaints the ACC has now filed in the Unprovoked ACC Lawsuit does the ACC purport to have complied with this mandatory precondition or purport to assert that its members had prior notice of the lawsuit.”

"Interestingly, Swofford’s name now appears multiple times in the complaint where “ACC” was used in the first filing. The changes reflect that it was specifically the then-commissioner who “feigned” an ESPN ultimatum that the cable channel would not be launched if schools didn’t sign off on an extended Grant of Rights."

If ANY of this is even 1/2 true, Swofford and the ACC are in some VERY serious doo doo. Swoffy's best strategy is likely to drag this out and hope he dies before the verdict comes in. I hope UNC gets skull-drug through the muck as this unfolds too.
