My only complaint is Bama is still at 6. They really lost at Texas and where two yards away from losing at home to a mediocre ATM team. They should have dropped to number 11.

Before last nights game I thought Michigan was a good match-up for us because of their reliance on running the football. Then I watched FSU line up and run really well on us last night with worse personnel than what Michigan would line up with. Michigan has a better OL and better backs than FSU. The one thing FSU does have that Michigan lacks is a mobile, running threat at QB, but I still don't think that would make a huge different in stopping a downhill running attack.
Michigan would be a slight favorite against us on a neutral field and would give us all we could handle. I'd be stunned if we stomped them because a) we haven't stomped anyone good this year, and b) I don't think we would get off the field enough on D.

And I definitely disagree. One off night in the run D and all the sudden we can’t stop the run. Also We figured out their run game in second half outside of the QB scramble. Now that has always been a thorn in our side. We’ve never done well stopping the QB run. To me it took us a bit to adjust to what they were doing schematically. Once we figured it out we shut it down. Then the 4th qtr debacle happened. Our D was already on the bus but still he was throwing the ball.
Definitely not going to let one off night night as we can’t stop the run. That’s all Mich has and I fully believe we’d stop them. I’d want Mich all day in a play off scenario.

Who would bet that if Bama beats 24 Mississippi State, they will jump us taking over #5 spot, and we land at #6? Then they will jump Michigan after their next win over LSU!!! And if none of those 4 teams lose, that will be the 4 playoff teams. To many spoons messing around in the cooking pot for our Tiger team at this point, but I do believe that out Tigers are a better team than what we've seen this entire season!!! Dabo really needs to get back to his CEO job that has worked really well for his team in the past, and leave the coordinators to doing their job, and if he believes their not capable of doing their job without him tinkering around with what they're doing, do what a CEO does, and replace them, Period!!!

This blows. Cincy doesn't deserve a spot. FSU would crush Cincy. Cuse deserved a top 10 just like they did Penn ST to give mich a quality win. Psu won't be in top 20 at end of year.
Cuse a lot better resume that p stank u. Psu beat one team with winning record, same team Cuse beat. Cuse top 15 win. Psu, nothing.

Last night was great until we built a 20 point lead and hit the cruise button. Apparently no one told FSU the game was over. We deserve to drop but had we played 4quarters we would have remained #4. Time to take out our frustrations on Syracuse

A one loss Clemson will not jump a one loss SEC or Big 10 school assuming their loss is to one of the top schools (AL, GA, TN or OSU, MI). An undefeated Clemson team and ACC champion will not be left out over a one loss team regardless of who the loss is to.

The way things are looking this year I think they’d try to squeeze in a 1 loss sec team. Then you have to worry about UCLA, TCU, Clemson, & other 1 loss teams and how they stack up. Hopefully UCLA & TCU catch at-least 1 loss before everything’s said and done that way Clemson will at-least have that edge over them.

Our SOS should be much better than TCU. We have beaten 2 top 15 teams and Syracuse is now ranked 14 so that will be 3 top 15 wins. Who has TCU beaten? I know they beat OK but don’t remember if they were ranked at that time or not.

TCU has beaten #18 Oklahoma, #19 Kansas, #8 Oklahoma State, and they still play #17 KState, and #20 Texas and would likely play another ranked team in the B12 title game if they win out. I realize Oklahoma and Kansas are no longer in the top 25, but I doubt NC State is going to finish there either without Leary.
Now with that said, I don't think there's any way Clemson gets left out if we go unbeaten. I just wouldn't say our SOS would be much better than TCU.

So this is where the rankings matter. Before last night Tenn had defeated 3 top 25 teams. However none of those teams are still in the top 25. SEC bias and bull crap. That is why a 1 loss Clemson will not leap a 1 loss SEC team. These stupid rankings unfortunately matter

Just my opinion, but I disagree with you. I think the committee would select a 1-loss SEC Champ over an unbeaten ACC champion Clemson. It just means more (to ESPN).
Here’s hoping we either don’t find out, or I am flat wrong.

An undefeated Clemson team is going to be left out of the playoffs in favor of a won loss team from the SEC or someone like Michigan or Ohio… Because our conference is putrid and we don’t smash people the way we should. I think it’s inevitable.

I know beating Bama was big but they are a team that almost got beat at home by a team that lost to App State at home. I feel like Bama was a little overrated at this point in the season.

Tennessee shouldn’t have moved up 3 spots for barely beating bama. I agree Clemson shouldn’t have moved up, but they shouldn’t have dropped to make room for Tennessee in the top 4.

The problem is if Tenn runs the table except for UGA and if that is close they will remain in the top 4. You can not overcome the bias of all SEC teams are superior to the rest of div 1.

If Bama is no longer good enough to be in the top 4 why is Tennessee good enough for beating them. Both teams are good but I think they are rushing to keep 2 SEC teams in the top 4 before we actually see what they are. Georgia beats Tennessee by 14+

The #6 team beat the #3 team and they swapped rankings. I'm not seeing the issue here? I don't have a problem with Tennessee being that high. They beat a solid Pitt team on the road, beat a Florida team that had beaten Utah, and dominated against LSU. I have my doubts about them being able to beat Georgia, but based on the season thus far I don't see how anyone can argue that having Tennessee at #3 is unfair.

Just keep winning, we have won 4 away conference games. I’m impressed with that because it is very hard to do.
Our hardest part of the schedule is behind us but every game we have left will be tough including Notre Dame at South Bend!

May not be a popular opinion but it seems to me that AP voters rewarded Michigan for handling a good Penn State team, it’s not that we were punished…Would style points have helped, sure maybe a little, but IMO we were getting jumped no matter what
From a stats and info standpoint we marginally dropped from 1348 AP points in week 7 to 1336 points in week 8…. Even if we stayed level, Michigan jumped from 1319 to 1384 so we’d have dropped
Also, polls don’t matter and there’s a ton of football left… just win!!!

Keep winning and it doesn’t matter but clemson has zero margin for error. Our unwillingness or lack of ability to win convincingly will cost us a seat at the table when comparing resumes at the end of the year. We have got in before with one loss because we had credit in the bank from style points. Not this year. Style points do matter! ….but only if we lose a game.

OK, I'm out of my depth on how the committee selects the final 4. So what your saying is if Clemson drops down even further in the AP ranking due to more nail biters against unranked teams that it has no bearing whatsoever on who gets in? So let's say we are 6 or 7 in the AP poll with no losses. We are automatically in over 1 loss teams that have jumped us in the polls? Just asking.

The committee uses 100% eye test, which includes MOV, to figure out their Top 6. Then they go back and use other things to justify it. They will have 5 different reasons for why one team is ahead of another. They have never been consistent and I don't see them changing this year.

Uh, some things never seem to change. In the past, the selection committee has done the right thing by us, regardless of the press, but the pressure is on them with so much publicity from ESecPN pundits to favor “their conference” now. It’ll be very interesting to see how this plays out. Time will tell, but some overwhelming wins would help our argument, IMO.

Stay undefeated we are in. One loss and acc championship my bet is that we are in. Two losses or not a conference championship and we are likely out or at least have to wait on others to lose. Most important game of the year. This Saturday. And then the next and then the next.

I think this is pretty simple. We win out and we are in. If we lose one, there are still too many variables at this point to make any kind of intelligent statement about our chances of getting in.
I just keep hoping for top 10 teams (Ole Miss, TCU, UCLA) to lose. USC went out this weekend.
Tennessee still has Kentucky and Georgia.
MIchigan and Ohio State can damage each other, as can Bama and Georgia

Too much has yet to happen to get too excited about this and remember, the rankings that matter have not been released yet and have nothing to do with the current polls so we have no idea where we sit at this point. However, I was not surprised we dropped but happy to see us 5 and not 6 where I expected us to be. We can get our third top 20 win (at the time of the game) this week so I'm not worried about all the ONE LOSS speculation scenarios because so far we don't have a loss! I do think the key will be whether Bamma can beat the winner of TN/UGA on Nov 5 (huge game) in the SEC title - leaving Bamma in with one loss and a one loss UGA and TN looking for a second SEC spot and the likely only one-loss team to make it. You could make the same argument about the Big 10 with a one loss OSU and MICH and I suppose the same in the PAC 12. I know this - win all of them and you are in if you are one of the Power 5 Champs. I know you COULD have an undefeated Champ in all 5 but what are the odds? I think (???) you'd see TCU as the loser in that group but with Notre Dame tanking and thus not giving us a marquee non-conference win chance it sure would not hurt to throw out one of those 41-6 type games this week!!!

Alabama has work to do to make the SEC championship. Ole Miss and Miss St are not gimme's and it's tough to just discount the Iron Bowl.
Let's talk chaos. A 2 loss Alabama gets revenge on an undefeated Tennessee who squeaks one out in the regular season over Georgia. Does any SEC team go or do they try to send all 3?

Tenn gets in first - they beat both Bama & Gerogia. Georgia might get in having lost only one game (to Tenn)
Bama does NOT get in with 2 losses.

I will be GLAD when the 12 Team Playoff Is Here ... and ....

If I was King, there would be a SIXTEEN Team playoff ...
Winner of each Conference auto goes (10) AND SIX Wildcards ... 16
Who plays who first round determined by rankings of the sixteen 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14, 4 vs 13, 5 vs 12, 6 vs 11 7 vs 10, 8 vs 9
Current Bowl Venues would be playoff sites, they would take turns who gets to host what games ...
I should be King.

You have now got teenagers playing a 16 game season - like the pros. That is too much wear and tear on their young bodies. If you are willing to cut the regular season to 10 games then I might listen to arguments for a 16 team playoff. However, a ten game season brings a myriad of other concerns along with it.

This is all ESPiN hype of preseason polls which include...

all but a couple of the SEC teams being way over rated. It's happened since the early BCS years and will continue as long as SEC/ESPiN are joined at the hip.
The first year of the Playoffs we saw the reluctance to sway far from the AP polls in early rankings. It turned out that fixing such a mess takes time but the POC is due to meet soon and will begin to sort through this can of rotting worms and set things right again.
I had confidence in the playoff system and so far, while the committee has allowed a few unworthy teams to be included I believe we've always found the best team won the trophy.
We will see this season end after the POCG and see the first accurate polls released. At that point the ESPiN spin doctors will begin the task of twisting minds to repeat the process of ranking SEC teams in the top of next year's preseason polls.
It's politics of the simple minded which guide this process.

So, quickly name who Michigan, Ohio State and Georgia have played that was ranked and is still ranked?
Mich/PSU, OSU/nobody, UGA/Oregon
Tennessee has credibility...schedule full of ranked opponents, we of course have 2 teams (hopefully 3 after saturday)
