Some coot on fgf yesterday was comparing sc receivers to...
Aug 1, 2012, 4:00 PM
|
|
ours and then went on to list nfl receivers from sc and could not name any from clemson. I can see them forgetting some of our great receivers but how could any gamecock for Rod Gardner after he robed them two years in a row. HA! I'll never forget sitting in WB on a forth and 10 about the sc 30 up 4 when he caught the td in the endzone. The field lit up with ZERO candy bars at that point. 0-12
Then what they labeled as the "Push OFF" ! How do yo let RG even have a chance at catching that pass with seconds to go? Now thats smart, sc football!

who is not on our current roster. Matter of fact neither are any of hte other receivers mentioned in the replies.
I simply pointed out one of the receivers on one of our past teams that made critical catches and 1st downs on the drive to the winning field goal at their place.

well if he's talking NFL worthy guys then he's got a point
Aug 1, 2012, 4:24 PM

we haven't put out many NFL lifers at WR. Jacoby will continue to push hopefully. But we can't claim the players they've put out at WR. Don't think they had a whole lot to do with those guys being great but they've had some studs.
Rod Gardner pissed me off..he somehow got to the NFL and forgot how to catch. He was one I thought would've made the transition but for whatever reason he never got it.

Answer is simple: Dwight Clark made a bigger NFL impact

than any from SCAR....and more or less defined what we nowadays call a "possession-type" receiver.

Two super bowl rings, number retired by the 49ers, without a doubt a future hall of famer...and a serious candidate for the AD position at Clemson.

I tried to actually think of how CU receivers compared to USUC receivers but I couldn't name a single WR on their team other than some short fella named Ace and a point guard named Ellington. Not much to compare

Chansi Stuckey / Jacoby Ford have both had better careers than any SC receiver in years. Is troy williamson even in the league anymore?
They should stick to bragging about corners.
