Hokies AD says there is potential interest in SEC membership

Nov 20, 2012, 9:33 PM

Kyle Bailey ?@TheClubhouseKB

#Hokies AD Jim Weaver says there "may be potential interest" in talking with the #SEC about future membership. Defers comment otherwise.

have interest in talking with the SEC about membership?

Until someone at the SEC mentions talking with the Hokies about membership, the VT AD's comments mean squat.

Virginia Tech and NC State make sense to the SEC.

Nov 20, 2012, 9:46 PM

If that happens Clemson and FSU will jump into the Big 12.

That doesn't matter anymore. Every school for themselves.

Maryland may be the tipping point. ACC could collapse by the end of the year.

in for 50 years. They are not going to let that happen again. They'd just as soon let that be someone else's problem this half century. And with UVA getting a nice landing in the BigTen the legislature of Virginia will not stop them from going to the SEC.

Re: Hokies AD. We better have something planned

Nov 20, 2012, 10:00 PM

You'd have to think we have something up our sleeve. If Maryland is gone and NCST/VT go to the SEC, we have to bolt to the Big12. Swofford will start picking up teams like Georgetown and St John's. this will be a basketball conference. Clemson is a football school. Period! We will be laughed at in the ACC, even worse than already. We will never sniff a playoff.
