Feels like South Carolina is being overlooked with the Helene damage

I have now seen many things on social media rightfully focused on NC. But I have also seen people asking for help/prayers for NC, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. No mention of South Carolina in many of them.
Our “small” state in comparison to our neighbors leads us to get overlooked nationally and appear to happening again with this hurricane.

SC isn't an election swing state; wonder if that has something to do with it***

I saw a couple of articles that said Biden and Harris were both planning to visit NC and try to get to GA and FL. I thought the same thing. I don’t think they like our Governor, so that might play into it as well.

A co-worker in the IRMO area as been without power since last Friday. Something else to consider about North Carolina... if people in the western part of NC can't vote then the votes in large urban areas like Charlotte and Raligh/Durham will overcome the slight edge the republicans have in the rural areas.

Well Ashville isn't exactly a bastion of Trump voting republicans.***

When we moved to Asheville in 2014 someone described it as a very liberal city in the middle of a very conservative county. We lived there 6 years and that is a very accurate description. You are correct about the city of Asheville, but the vast rural areas of Western NC are very conservative and likely voting Republican.

there are people in Greenwood that may not have power for a couple more weeks.
I haven't heard of any cities in SC being completely buried by a land slide

President Biden told reporters there was nothing more that he could do for the people of Western North Carolina.
Reporter: "Do you have any words to the victims of the hurricane?"
Biden: "We've given everything that we have."
Reporter "Are there any more resources the federal government could be giving them?"
Biden: "No."

My mother is still without power in Anderson, as are many of my co-workers. Mine came on Sunday night. I got lucky I guess.

Some state USAR teams that have been federalized and sent.
The priorities for where the fed resources go are for rescue and medical care, access for communities cut off from outside help, water/food/medical supplies, getting roads open, and restoring water, sewer, a d power utilities.
Western NC and parts of East Tennessee have thousands of people with those needs.
Except for utilities, SC has far fewer of those needs right now.
I don't have a problem with it.

Biden said he didn’t want to visit to soon as to not cause a distraction.
Distraction to who? Would anybody really even notice? Maybe the tens of followers that came with his entourage?
Please.
