mind on the subject. Batson MUST go NOW. This guy appears to be the weak link in terms of our teams development. I didn't have an opinion one way or the other until watching the other videos. It is clear we are WAY behind other programs. This is not a knee jerk reaction but one that was carefully researched and thought out. Dabo you klnow what you have to do so do it.

As I stated above compared to other programs Batson is our weak link. As I said I didn't think much about it until watching many other videos. Now I feel he is our problem and must go.

How much time was spent watching others? What was the longest you watched of unedited workouts? What kind of workouts did you find us doing and what was the explanation of why we do them? How much of our total workouts differ from others and by what percentage? How many programs use the same workouts as us? From Clemson's point of view, what is the perceived advantages from the workouts that we do? I'm glad you've done all this research b/c I've been dying to know these answers!

Here is the truly amazing part about all the bashing of our S&C program is getting. WE ARE ACC CHAMPIONS. Not Last place in the league, not sixth place, not fourth place..........What are we basing this weak link on? A S&C coach who happens to be a conference champion and ten game winner. If he is that much of a liability we wouldn't be where we are folks. Is there room for improvement? Probably. Could our two biggest failings also be related to parts of our program other than S&C? Probably. It is almost comical sometimes guys. At least wait til we aren't ACC Champs to complain.

and GT/VT. Do I even need to mention how we struggled against TROY and WOFFORD at the beginning of the season? Not to mention Wake and NC State?
What's our record against USuC as of late (since they invested in their SC program)?
Our SC program is a huge problem, especially when it comes to our linemen.

S&C is responsible for fostering strength and conditioning. But in most of the elite programs, it also plays a role in building mental toughness.
The OB was a lack of mental toughness, and should fall both on the S&C and/or the culture in the locker room.
What do you think?

and our players giving up after that. No doubt that was the turning point in that game. We score a TD then, we have a totally different ball game.
I also think (based off what one of my sports medicine friends said) our preparation for the game, going to Miami a week before and having a good ole time, had something to do with it.

How do you know they haven't told him that they are behind. Boottom line is we get pushed around by inferior teams. We win on talent and coaching. It's not because we bust of 5 to 6 yards a carry with power football.

i would think that if they have mentioned it to him, the coaching staff would have visited the programs mentioned (like the visits to nevada and ok.state for the offense,this year) wouldn't you think they,collectively, could see this supposed weakness,and fix it.

Coach has final say and Dabo has said how he feels about batson publicly. Doesn't matter what they tell him. Sounds to me dabo has his mind made up to stick with Fatson.

I have heard several people state that Burton Burns was extremely critical of Batson while he was a coach at Clemson. Just because coaches don't spout off to the media about their displeasure does not mean its not there.

For one thing we have outrecruited all the teams in the acc barring fsu so we should be running roughshod through the whole conferance not winning nailbiters to inferior teams. So yes i would say there is a weak link somewhere preventing that and i would say its strength and toughness. Case in point how strong we started last year and then fizzled out. Your top tier teams dont do that but yet we consistantly recruit with the top tier so if you have something else keeping us from from getting over the hump from acc power to national power id like to hear it.

Yes they would, if it was a "problem" per say. Batson is an average S&C coordinator and has had success in the past. He isn't terrible, but he IS NOT an elite S&C coach.
To be honest, you don't even need an elite S&C coach, just one that understands the system needed to compete with the elite. An olympic lifting disciple would be nice...
Look at SCar: they upgraded to a top 5 S&C program in the country and it helped them a lot.
The point is that if we are "all in." and are spending tons of money for the top coordinators and their staff, we should also insist on nothing but the absolute best in terms of S&C.
