I need a better pillow. I had a good one, then after about three years, my neck has decided it doesn't like it. Tried Pillow Cube, and see how it could be good for 100% side sleepers, but I'm a side/back dude and it was like a torture rack.

Is the pillow too low or too high?

If the pillow is too high, there is too much stress on you neck muscles to support your upper body, which causes problems. If it is too low, the downward angle of your neck to your head causes problems.
I am a side sleeper with a neck support pillow. I can't sleep on my back unless I am lying on the couch watching a movie.
I love the pillow, but I experimented with 1, 2, then 3 folded towels underneath it to find the proper height. The increased neck support of the curved pillow solves one part of the problem while the towels raise the level so that I get just the right amount of pressure .
My neck pain is gone after years of suffering, but I do miss being able to flip it to the cool side of the pillow.
This is the general style and price point of what I have except that mine has a slightly taller short side, but I sleep on the short side of the pillow, not the tall side seen in this photo:
