Great to read, hope our offense is much improved obviously. I wonder how a vet like Mickens or Carter who may have been here in 2019 or 20 feel about the offense as compared to the TL days. Of course they were probably freshmen and in awe of TL, ETN and that group.

I not sure why there is a divide or thought that our defense is so much better than the offense. This seems obvious, but many games that are lost is because the defense gives up points not because the offense does not score. In the past 2 seasons, the defense gave up an average of 30 points in the losses. There were turnovers (Duke last year) and poor offense but giving up 30 points is not a dog that will hunt unless the offense is great. The defense needs to be happy that the offense can score on them and vice versa.

Your math is incorrect friend. Only 2 losses seen Clemson's Defense give up 30 points, (31 to both USuc & Tenn) both games seen Clemson play with a depleted secondary due to injury along with opt outs on defense in the bowl game! Duke scored 28 after favorable field position results from TOs. Miami/NCST/FSU all manges only 17 points against the Clemson Defense in Regulation. All scored TDs in OT and NCSt & FSU added TDs on defense with a pick 6 and a Fumble 6. Miami and Duke scored TDs directly after offensive TOs as well. Eliminate TOs last year and this team replaces FSU at 12-0. Defense this yr will actually be better than last with a deeper Front 4 and a deeper more experienced back 5. Losing Wiggins was big but strength lies in numbers with Terrell, Lewis, and Lukus! Safety is set with Mickens, Barnes, and Venables! Stellar year of offense protects the football!

Defense was gassed due to offense not giving them time to rest. Too many short drives and let's not forget DJ giving the ball back to usuck several times with short fields.

The offense has not played complimentary football. Fumbles, interceptions and three and outs.

We loss 4 games last year. 3 of them teams that beat us only scored 17 points on offense in 4 quarters. FSU only scored 17 on offense. They also scored 7 on defense. Miami only scored 17 in 4 quarters and beat us in overtime. NC State also only scored 17 points in 4 quarters. They scored a defense touchdown to give them 24. Pretty good by the defense really.

This sounds very similar to last year's preseason chatter from our defense. I trust the offensive results will be better out of the gate this year.
Go Tigers!!

I don’t remember that but maybe I’ve forgotten. All I know is this is the most encouraging thing I’ve heard in a while. Not cashing any checks yet though lol.

so glad the defense gets to now practice against a real first string team
Mafah should have always been RB1 WRU is back and it's not because of upperclassmen
iron sharpens iron and SHIP happening made it all lead . and the swinney boy wr room made Will Taylor as hyped as TLaw . that's just fact
can't believe what the Clemson Football fan base started wanting after the CFP run
so glad the old Dabo is aback and that the coaches that are soft are out in a month or so

I’m pretty sure no one wanted what we’ve seen the last few years. No idea what makes you think that. I do find it odd though that you are pointing out all the white players when we had plenty of races that didn’t live up to expectations.

Sounds good today. But, game day is when we will know the true story if the offense is better this year or the defense is not as good as last year. Go Tigers.

I don't think they're trying to fool anyone. Cade has always been a really good QB when he had receivers he could throw the ball to, and an O line that could give him and average amount of time before he was flushed out of the pocket. Just look up his High School film, Cade was a really good passing QB, and he wasn't a 5 star guy bc he couldn't play the QB position. He earned those 5 stars bc he was a good QB, and he still is when he has receivers that can catch the ball, and an O line that can block somebody, he had none of either last season. Our receivers were injured, and even though we had talent on the O line, Austin didn't have enough coaching experience to coach them!!!

I don't think they're trying to fool anyone. I don't either. I'm sure they believe they are going to go out on the field and do all these great things. It just hasn't worked out that way lately.
Although, the "fool me once" part was said mostly in jest, I have been of the mindset for quite a while that I cannot allow comments from players, coaches, or media influence any speculation on my part about what improvements we might see on the field from the offense.
For example, I love Eric Mac Lain, but he has "gotten me" two years in a row with his pre-season comments about how impressed he was with what he had observed from the offensive line.

I've learned in recent years to never drink the Kool-aid. They do that for my Horns and I used to fall for it every year only to be disappointed time and time again. Their so-called sources always had this guy or that one really looking good in practice or off season and it was almost always horse poop to get more subscribers and make more money. They kept pumping some DT this off season and he just disappeared in the spring game and they signed several DT prospects in the portal. Y'all don't have that problem because you recruit top DTs and DE's. WE had a 1st round draft pick at NG and our DT won the Outland Award for nations top lineman. But, now, we can't even get a top high school guy committed because of a mistake in hiring by Sarkisian.

What concerns me is CJ Spiller looks too much like P Diddy.
The OL should eventually be better this season and the WRs will be significantly better, I believe. So, the offense should be perking up a lot. There's really no getting around the importance of experience at QB. Some, like TL and DW are just natural, while others are more human. I still have faith in my home town guy and losing any games at all has got to be really hard on him. He never lost anything in high school and before.
