I posted after the Duke game saying that it was a peculiar game. And that we were actually on the controlled side of that game, the fumbles and FGs just screwed us. Our own execution is what beats us. Not the other team. It’s been like that in many of the times Dabo has lost recently.
I said what I wanted to see against Charleston S. was some athletic plays made, drives finished, and defense flying to ball.
All of that happened consistently in the 2nd half. It was better than anything I’ve seen since Trevor. It showed as something that can work if the rhythm is not being hindered by miscues. 66 points isn’t some mistake or walk in the park against any D1 football team.
Rankings kind of matter.
They’re still sensitive to movement, and the 2nd half overshadowed the first half.
There were a lot of things that we haven’t seen our offense do even against bad teams in the last 2 years. Beaux Collins looked great, other than his celebratory attitude. But let them gain some confidence.
I actually think the simple margin of win is what the idiots in the polls actually look at. We all want to think they pay attention to how games go. But we dropped 16 spots after the Duke loss. Basically because we lost 28-7. Not how that game went.
we jus blew it. But its tough to be encouraged after CSU bc they were 2-8 last season. They are dreadfully bad. While FAU isnt good either, at least theyve got FBS athletes on their team. Im really just looking for crisp execution by the O, and assignment football by the D.
I know we gave up less the 100yds yesterday, but there were several blown assignments on the option. CSU just didnt have the speed to exploit it. Im looking for that to get cleaned up.
