Jim Barker. Everything always seems to come back to him/his responsibility.
Conference Affiliation - instead of looking out for the best interest of Clemson, he is spearheading Swoffords expansion committee.
Football - Instead of going out and spending money on a proven coach (which could have still allowed Dabo to stay on staff as a recruiter), he forced the Dabo hire, then allowed Dabo to hire Billy Napier as an OC.
Athletic Department - We have seen a steady decline in most of our sports, while our fundraising is seemingly at it's best in years. So, instead of hiring an AD that can bring an athletic impact, our national search results in a two hour car ride to pick up another fundraiser, from a school that has seen it's athletics decline in the past 5 years.
The 20 initiative - One word - Joke. After it was leaked that Barker was basically manipulating the numbers in every concievable way, the "progress" we made toward reaching the top 20 is laughable at best, embarrassing to most.

And the thing is with the US News & World Report top colleges list, it's not something professors or administrators look at as legitimate. It's not like the AAU that all the Big 10 members, except Nebraska, are a member of.
Whats really pathetic, after Clemson and the US News & World Report got embarrassed by Barker's manipulating, Barker is still out their promoting his Don Quixote-esque quest to get to the top of that illegitimate list.

eliminated Clemson as a viable choice to many students who have good grades and grew up in the Clemson family. This is a far cry from what I've always understood Clemson purpose to be.

this country was in the midst of a serious recession. People everywhere, including professors were being laid off or forced into early retirement. In light of this, if Barker would have paid millions for a new coach some heads would have rolled. That would have created a media-worthy controversy that Barker was definitely going to avoid.
Here's the deal with the Dabo hire: Dabo was at the right place at the right time.

he authorized TDP to renegotiate Bowdens contract after he coaxed the admin into thinking that Arkansas was interested in him. Sources within the Arkansas AD denied that there was any interest.
That contract is what gave Bowden such a big buyout, and there was no need for it.

In fact I tried to beat this drum a few years ago but people bought into the top 20 ######## and yelled academics.

The first thing that needs to happen is Cheese being fired then Batson needs to be forced out or fired (leave it up to him).
