We need more soft DBs

Dec 12, 2012, 11:43 AM

Our front 7 can do the job of stopping the run. Hard hitting DBs are rarely the ones who cover anyone. If anyone can dispute this, please give me a list of great cover corners who were also great tacklers. A hard-hitting safety is one thing, but we need some corners who can stop the passing game. This means go after speed and coverage skills over guys who can hit. If the receiver doesn't catch the ball, then no tackle is necessary.

Every defensive back who plays for the Seahawks.

A pass rush would also help tremendously, of which we have no natural ones besides Beasley.

Their defense does not do a great job of stopping the pass.

That's a different discussion.

You don't have to be a hard hitter to be a great cover corner.

Champ Bailey is the opposite of soft. So is Charles Woodson.

They are 4th in the NFL against the pass. That says they are pretty dang good against it.

Still say DBs werent our problem

Dec 12, 2012, 2:09 PM

Offenses nowadays will light up corners no matter what. We shoulda been able to dominate the lines of scrimmage in the awful ACC if our front 7 were so good.

Defense has a ways to go, and picking on our 3rd string DBs isnt the answer.

Disagree if u have hard hiting corners they can knock the ball loose. If u have aggressive corners the receivers know that and worry about that while catching the ball.
