We definitely gotta lot of things to fix

but after all of the staff turnover and decommitments last offseason, how many of you thought that we'd be sitting here at 8-1 at this point?
I didn't expect it, and yeah, I'm hoping to get back to elite status soon but I also know that things could be a heckuva lot worse than they are. I remember the Hatfield and West years. We're not to far from getting things fixed, we just gotta hang in there and pull for our Tigers.

just curious, what gives you the confidence that "we're not far from getting things fixed"??
Now, don't get me wrong there are a few "tweaks" to the way Dabo runs his program that will go a long way in helping "right the ship"............no need for a complete philosophy overhaul, BUT.......there are MANY issues at many different levels within the program/team that need to be fixed and if Dabo CHANGED TOMORROW it'd likely still be a couple years to "get back" to ELITE.
the window is NOT closed, but if the BIG changes aren't made soon (ie end of year) the window could very well close on us getting back...........or else it'll be a long steep climb.

complete rebuild. The jimmys and joes are mostly here, already. We just need to quit dicking around on play calling and we need a difference maker at qb.

I don't think we do have the jimmys and joes right now to be elite........we don't have the coaching staff to be elite..........we don't have the somewhat embracive nature of the NIL/Portal to be elite (in this new age of CFB)............we've lost our killer instinct, we used to cut the throats up 35-14......now we mess around and depend on a recovered onside kick at FSU to seal a victory.
I give this example a lot regarding jimmys/joes..........Shipley is by far our best offensive player #1 no doubt on the 2022 team................he would be probably 5th-6th best on any of our 2015-2019 teams (maybe 4th on 2017 team,....maybe?)
it's some philosophy tweaks and some major outside hires that Dabo needs to make.............and I'm hoping and anxious to see if he makes them. People act like QB is the main issue and while it is an issue it's one of many and not the main one.

I thought the days of losing like that were over.

That wasn’t a loss. That was a program destroyer. That was Clemson 58, Miami 0 where the head coach gets fired.
I guess Golden got the last laugh. No one gets fired at Clemson, though. That wouldn’t make for a good Christmas at the Dabo family Christmas party.

The days of losing like that are never over. All these teams, Alabama, Ohio St. Georgia, have had big losses in recent years. The trick is isolating those losses.

Just my observation:
1. We block poorly on the perimeter. Receivers, TE, pulling lineman etc. This affect the screen game. Not successful on screens, that effects play calling. This is 2 seasons of poor perimeter blocking. Last year we had injuries, but now???
2. DJU is slow in reads, decision making and late on throws. He has also fallen back on his accuracy lately. The team deserves better. He has had his shot!
3. The defense is holding its own. 21 points off of turnovers Saturday night. That’s not on the defense. The Offense was awful on 3rd down which did not help the defense either!
4. Trenton Simpson is an awesome athlete, but he is still learning to play inside.
5. I think ND picked up on some defensive tendencies. Unbalanced line, we stunted weak side and they wound run outside of the stunt.
All this and a $1 will get you a cup of coffee.
