Jesse Palmer on College Football Final...
Nov 24, 2019, 10:03 AM

...talking about postion LSU or 031O State in the #1 slot so that they don't have to play Clemson. Hello, if Clemson is such a juggernaught that no one wants to play then why are they talking about Clemson at #3. Makes no sense.

I totally agree Bert. Surely the ‘committee’ will see this obvious flaw . I sincerely believe that if the Tigers take care of business as they should in these next two games, they will be ranked first in the final poll. All year the media has looked for negatives in the Tigers but they aren’t there .Are they?

We aren't jumping LSU or OSU if they win out

They have better wins. If LSU beats Jawja they'd have 5 top ten wins when they played them including Bammer, Auburn, Florida and Tejas. OSU would have Penn St., Wisconsin and Minniesoter if they win out. We have zero.
Like it or not, seeding is based on resume for the most part. Besides, once the final 4 are set seeding doesn't matter squat

Excellent explanation. You should probably copy and paste this for the dozens of other posts indicating we should be ranked #1.
You can believe we are the best team in the nation (I sincerely do) and also understand that LSU and OSU should be ranked ahead of us currently. These two distinct thoughts should not cause conflict in anyone’s mind.
Say them both out loud. Let them breathe. And then enjoy our final four games of this season and another ACC and championship.

bit who we play first. Why? Because we are the best team and are going to beat anyone we play. It's a good thing this isn't the BCS era Because if It was the best team would not play for the championship

Right. Clemson gets the resume criteria, SEC gets the eye test.

For Clemson, we look amazing, but we’re judged by our resume...which is a down conference we can do nothing about, two weak OOC games and two SEC teams, one of which was supposed to be good at the beginning of the year (ranked) and one of which the coach said was his best team ever at the program. But too bad...resume and all. Plus, we stumbled by not beating an opponent on the road by enough one time.
For getting that second SEC team into the playoff, however, the criteria is different. Who cares if they stumbled with one quality loss? What does the ever objective “eye test tell us”? Why, they’re MAGNIFICENT! Clearly one of the best four teams in the country! Look how well they’ve bounced back from the adversity of losing to a quality SEC opponent at home!

...it's about the illogical discussions that continue to dribble out of mouths of "football experts". It's not about the best resume, it's about the best and most complete teams.

You are correct but even if we each switched resumes there is this media driven perception that somehow we arent as worth as the other 2 because of their pedigree. Yet we've done far more recently than them.

It’s not illogical to say LSU and OSU would prefer not to play Clemson in the first round. Makes total sense that they would both want to play the as-yet-to-be-determined 4 seed because everyone assumes there is a big drop off between the top 3 and everyone else.

"Besides, once the final 4 are set seeding doesn't matter squat " - It only matters if the CFPC actually has a clue and ranks the 4 teams in order of how good they really are. Any team ranked #1 only has to play the weakest team, and then play the winner of #2 and #3 after their battle which should be tougher on that winner. Any team not #1 must play the 2 toughest opponents to win the NC.
Thankfully, the CFPC is clueless.

At this point, how are they to judge who the best

team is? The only way that's happening is comparing resumes and the so called eye test. Beating ranked teams is how the resume is built. We simply have not been afforded that opportunity, yet.
Besides, if being number 1 is so important, why hasn't number 1 won the thing yet?

LSU has zero top 5 wins. They do however have 1 top 10 win. You don’t go by where the team was ranked you go by were the team is currently ranked. They explained this on the ranking show a couple weeks ago.

be odd to have Clemson ranked Number 1, then that Numero Uno actually win the national title!
Another first, no doubt, and little, ole Clemson to be the one that achieves that milestone.

It’s the 3 teams the committee and E$ECPN really want to win and Clemson until they lose which is taking frickin’ forever... can we just knock Clemson out cuz their schedule is weak sauce and Bammer just beat Western Carolina? C’mon! That win is better than anything Clemson did this year. Eye test! EYE TEST!!!

News Flash: There are NO ranked teams

And each time the CFP Committee uses 'rankings' as talking points, they obviate their responsibility. At day's end, it's the Committee and fans, alike, succumbing to media hype and blather. IDGAD about a media type's perception and frankly, if the SEC is all that and a doughnut, too, why is there even a NCAA or playoff once the SECCG has been played? Can't have it both ways.
Clemson takes a back seat to not one single team in the country. Not. One. And lastly...to others' point...if Clemson at 3 is who the other three teams want to avoid...well...doesn't that really suggest who's #1? Or is that logic too rich for some to digest?

Clemson has no shot at #1 unless UGA beats LSU and OSU loses B10CG, both unlikely, but you never know. The real question is who draws the "short straw" between LSU/OSU to face Clemson in the semis, because as many have said, nobody wants to play Clemson
On a side note, I'm superstitious and want to see the tigers in white jersey/orange pants combo
