Justin Williams had the following to say:
“I’ve added three locks in San Diego State, Dayton and Clemson. SDSU was in the top-16 preview, and Dayton was mentioned as just outside; both are top 20 in NET and SOR, have zero losses outside of Q1, and with wins on Saturday, they were on our list to get bumped to a lock anyway. Clemson was mentioned by the committee as being just outside the top 16, and despite a one-point home loss to NC State later on Saturday, the Tigers have a top-30 SOR and four Q1 wins, including at Alabama and at North Carolina, and they are 12th in KPI, another results-based metric. The team is 8-4 away from home and has played only four Q4 games. Honestly, the committee seems to like Clemson more than I do, but the other potential locks I wrestled with were BYU and Kentucky, and the Tigers are just ahead of both in terms of Q1 wins and SOR. I’m admittedly stingy with our locks here, but on this one, the committee has (sort of) spoken.”

Well... Let's hope that doesn't jinx us. The NC State game hurt, but it wasn't a kill shot. The games we've got to win are Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Notre Dame. We also need to win at least 1 game against Pitt, Syracuse, or Wake.

I feel fairly safe that we're in, but we can easily find ourselves slip to an 8/9 seed if not careful. We don't wanna have to match up with a #1 seed in the second round.
And for the love of God let's avoid one of those Dayton play-in games, lest we get royally screwed like we did in 2011.

It’s not even what the guy means when he says we’re a lock. JK truly doesn’t understand statistics. I thought it was just part of the troll but he completely misinterpreted lung cancer statistics in an ampitheater post the other day. So he might just be stupid. And since he blocks everyone who disagrees with him he isn’t correctable.

But it’s not impossible to think that we could still get in under that (super disappointing) scenario.
We would still benefit from our strong non-conference performance, our record against quad 1 teams, and our good strength of schedule.
Take it up with the journalist at The Athletic. He says we are a lock.

No, it’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying that it’s a lock we do enough to make it in. We’re not going to go 0-6. But almost all models have us going 5-1. He probably thinks we’re safe to 3-3 and that going below that is statistically unlikely. You really don’t know anything about this or you are pretending too. Your projections have been nothing but a jinx. You might want to shut your pie hole until we get past GT tomorrow. Only about half the brackets on bracket matrix have been update since Saturday and those are a pretty even split of 5/6 seeds with a few 7s thrown in. None of the brackets (as indexed on BM) have been updated since UVA’s loss. And 2 of our 4 quad 1 wins could easily drop to quad 2 with their current net and remaining schedules. While it is still highly likely - it is not an open and shut case.

We should wait to see how this season ends before we determine if it's a good season or not. 7-7 in conference is not a good season. Average at best. Tigers will end the year above .500 in conference (hopefully) in which case we can say yes, we had a good regular season.
Then we'll see what happens in the post season.
Too early to say this is a good season overall. Let's let the games play out.

because there are still six games remaining to be played. If this team continue to pi$$-away games like they did Saturday night, the whole "lock" narrative will change quickly. I still maintain that Clemson needs four more wins to really solidify its invitation to the NCAAT, and winning four of the next six will be tough.

I'm not certain I believe this team could lose the rest of their games and still make the conference tournament. However, if the tournament were to be chosen today, 98 bracketologists currently (as of 2/19) have Clemson as a 5th seed with an average seeding across the 98 brackets of 5.30. Hopefully, we will solidify this ranking over the next 3 weeks.
