Fans complained about garbage coaches.

Oline coach: fired and replaced
Offensive play calling coach: fired and replaced
WR coach: put on a PIP
Dabo: emasculated on call-in show by Tyler

It took YEARS of #### play calling and fan-disgruntlement before changes were made.

Eating crow? Shiiiiiiiii. More like “finally enjoying Dabo fielding a competent coaching staff”

You geriatrics need hobbies.

I’ve said it a dozen times and I’ll say it again, although I know many of you don’t agree. The problem was not play calling. The simple, redundant, and predictable play calling was the result of inability to execute.

Someone responded earlier that it was better play calling that led to Cade’s improvement, but it’s not a chicken or the egg problem. Cade’s improvement allowed us to open up the playbook. That, and the improved OL play, so the opposing DL is not on him the moment he touches the ball.

Dabo getting out of the way so Garrett could direct the offense

was the key to our improvement.

It started when we played App State. It’s too bad Dabo insisted on meddling in the offense against UGA or the outcome might have been different.

Judge, I don’t think it’s as simple as that. I realize that Dabo was holding Riley back but it was to protect Cade (and DJ before him) because they just simply could not execute even the most basic plays. The porous OL was a factor as well.

We had a similar situation with a high school team I had some association with many years back. We hired a high powered young offensive coordinator who was excited to come in and open up his playbook, which included about 60 plays. The head coach decided our players weren’t sophisticated enough for all that, so we only ran about 9 basic plays all year.

That frustrated the OC, who was a good friend of mine and left after one season. But it was hard to argue with the head coach because the team went undefeated. (Incidentally, the OC went on to have a good career as an OC in college.)

I think the play calling has suddenly improved because our OL is blocking better and a switch in Cade’s head has suddenly flipped on. Not the other way around. Just as surely as Georgia broke DJ, somehow they fixed Cade.

Neither did the receivers.

I’m sorry, but I can’t accept the premise that Dabo was holding Cade and DJ back to protect them. If so, what caused Dabo to decide to stop holding Cade back after his poor performance against Georgia? It makes no sense.

He did suddenly get better. We all saw it. It wasn’t magic. He’s been working at his game, and he’s always had the skills. It just started clicking. I’ve had that type of experience before and you probably have too.

Maybe saying protect was not the right term. What I’m saying is they couldn’t run a sophisticated offense if the guy it all starts with can’t execute. I’m not totally sure what happened after the Georgia game, but something did.

BTW I realize that you’re just jabbing at Dabo because folks on here were jabbing at Brad. But what you’re saying is just not correct.

DJ would perform in practice which gave the coaches the delusion that he could do it in live action. Week after week they tried to introduce more to our offensive play calling and finally adjusted the book to fit his ability. He goes brain dead after the snap. He can't think and can't remember where his receiver are suppose to be.

Oh how soon some thoughtless fans have forgotten how horrible DJ was and even the kid's failure at FSU doesn't seem to remind them.

Dabo kept DJ in the game later that anyone I can remember in hopes that he would bloom. All that did was remind us that Cade got little playing time and the experience which came with it.

Dabo was hoping and believing that DJ would do what Cade has done, turn the corner and fit with our greatest behind center.

“The Dunning–Kruger effect is defined as the tendency of people with low ability in a specific area to give overly positive assessments of this ability. This is often seen as a cognitive bias, i.e. as a systematic tendency to engage in erroneous forms of thinking and judging. In the case of the Dunning–Kruger effect, this applies mainly to people with low skill in a specific area trying to evaluate their competence within this area. The systematic error concerns their tendency to greatly overestimate their competence, i.e. to see themselves as more skilled than they are.” - Wikipedia
